3400Rl/08/Montana does not recomend hauling bikes on ladder rack,
any suggestions would be appreciated

I have seen some fifth wheelers with a bike rack on the front of their truck with 2 bikes on it. Since I don't haul bikes, I don't know how well it works.

We were just at the Spring National MOC Rally in Tucson, AZ and Charles Wade, the west coast representative for Keystone, said that in the future there will be an option to get a bike rack on the Montana! They are going to install a 1 and one quarter inch
"trailer hitch" that will allow you to put on a rack to haul your bikes. I think that is what he said. We should start seeing them soon. Don't know about retro fitting but would think one should be able to do the thing.

They are there and gonna stay there till I can afford to get a hidden hitch for the back..

I have a long bed. I haul the bikes lying down, without the front wheels, behind the cab. I lock them and my ladder to the hitch.

I added a receiver to the front of the truck and installed a bike rake there, works great. Does make us a little longer. I think I have a picture in "my mods".

We haven't bought bikes yet as we aren't sure we need them yet. I did receive the Camping World flyer a few days ago, and they have a bike that folds up to the size of one wheel. The bike is a cruising bike.

Like Gene, I remove the quick remove front wheels and lay them flat in front of the hitch in my long bed. I had been thinking of getting a ladder rack until someone parked a new Big Sky near me in the storage facility. He has a ladder rack with 2 bikes on it. I went over to look at it. With just a little pressure with my fingers, the bikes and ladder would really wiggle. I can only imagine how much it moves going down the highway.
Was behind a Cardinal 5er last weekend with a rear receiver/hitch and bike rack and 2 bikes. The bikes were really bouncing side to side over uneven roadway. Did not really like the looks of that either.
Still considering the front receiver/hitch/rack.

I have a long bed truck. I built a wooden frame (rectangle) of 1x2s, that sits on the bed behind the cab and attachs to bed hooks w/turnbuckles. On the wood frame I mounted/bolted front fork clamps, like you see on some roof racks. Got the clamps from a local bike shop. Clamp the bikes (2) onto the frame and lay the front wheels in front of our hitch. Secure and no bouncing. Just need to watch the handlebars on tight turns.

I bought my 2008 3400RL last month and the dealer installed a ladder rack as part of the deal. I carry two regular bikes as my wife and I like to ride around the RV area to site-see or visit. All my friends have receiver hitch carriers.
Mine doesn't wiggle any more than theirs.

I have a Hollywood 3-bike carrier that I used with my rear hitch (installed by my dealer before Keystone said that was a no-no). I only carried two bikes on it but it worked very well. It allowed me to cover them with a tarp and lock them to the rig.

I carry mine inside. I use a furniture blanket to protect the recliners and using bungy cords secure them to the clips on the floor used to secure the recliners. They don't budge.

I have barely used Ladder rack for bicycles, will list in For sale items.

We had he dealer weld a receiver hitch to the frame of our unit.

We also have a front receiver hitch on our truck.

We use the hitch bike rack in either the front of the truck or on the rear of our unit.

Depends on whether or not we are boondocking (taking our yamaha generator or not) or whether or not we are taking the canoe(mounted on a front goalpost carrier) with us.

Seems to work well for us.

We have two full size Giant Cypress bicycles that we have been hauling around for years by simply removing the wheels and laying the frame flat in the front lockers, one each side with the wheels on top. That still leaves lots of room for our other stuff. Our 3670 does have good sized front lockers, but the new models are much bigger. We like keeping them in the lockers while on the road because it keeps them out of the weather and they are fairly secure in there.
