Basement Storage Slideout

Finally! Since we got our '04 I have hated the storage situation in the basement. You know - what you want is some where toward the middle of the storage under every thing else. I had seen the slide out trays in my in-laws coach and thought that there had to be a way for me.

The upgrade is not cheap ($500+) but I can now pull out the tray and load, unload or access anything on it.

Here are a couple of photos of my tray:

Here is where to get more info:

My basement is not a flat bottom as it is framed up and over the black tank. But the tray can be installed!

I lost 3" in useable height and some on the sides where the slides are. I could have gone with a wider tray but actually what I got works well as I have sufficient space for my folding ladder and a couple of other long items.

And it appears that I can slide my 50A cord under the tray when traveling! That thing is bulky so flat storage is looking nice.

We had the sliding tray as a option in our 06 3400. We removed it when we traded up and are installing it in the new Big sky.It makes getting to stuff easy.It holds 5 milk type baskets.

I know I am not supposed to sell stuff on this thread but since this is the subject I'll mention it. I have one I don't use and would sell it.

Just one comment on the sliding trays.

A friend with a SOB has one and failed to lock the slide when he was traveling. As he rounded a corner the tray slid and bent the basement door lock allowing the basement door to open. The slide extended outside of the trailer spilling all of goodies on the ground.

As if that wasn't bad enough, he finally saw all of his stuff over the highway and he came to a stop. His wife jumped out of the TV and saw another vehicle stopped by their stuff. Thinking that the guy was stealing their stuff she rushed back to the scene tripping over something in the road skinning her knee and damaging her ego. It turned out the guy just stopped to help.

I guess there is a lesson here someplace but I'll be darned if I can remember what it is.

Nice upgrade. Any 3750FL owners who have tried this in our miniature basement? Are they even available that narrow?

Guess the lesson is lock the tray. Mine has two locks, and I always double check to make sure it is locked before travel. The tray is heavy and will certainly cause damage if it opens up during travel and slams into the compartment door. Well worth having one however, but one more thing to remember to check. Re the narrow question, I bought mine from Stromberg Carlsen, and while you buy the kit you want by tray slideout length, you build to whatever width you want.

Yes we drilled a hole in th side of ours and insert a lock pin when travelling. As I recall the tray empty weighed 80 lbs

I have one too and I love it! Makes the space in the basement so much more useable. Like the idea of pinning the tray as a secondary lock though. Thanks guys
