You know what, I totally forgot to check the GCWR, you are correct, I will be over that with the gas versions. Still withn the limits with the Diesel though. Well I guess im not going to save 10K and go back to a gaser, that solves that debate.
Thanks for pointing this out.

Yes there is a light duty 10spd that GM and Ford co-developed.

Thanks you are right. I read the 755 HP Camero had the same transmission as the new HD trucks. This after some research I found this was wrong. The new transmission was designed by GM with no input from Ford. It is indeed designed and built by GM.
I learned something, thanks.

All I can say, is that all reports I've read about the new GM 10 speed is that it's a WINNER.

First of all, disclaimer, I don't work for these guys, don't have relatives that work for these guys, no kickbacks, no nothing...I was told by a co-worker that this was a volume dealer for GMC and they do have tons of trucks, etc, etc.
I'm an engineer, I went in there, made my best deal that's all.
The dealer was Howard Bentley GMC in Albertville, AL, talk to a sales guy named Jerod, young guy, local country boy, knows his stuff.

They all work well, get what you can afford. I personally like the new 2020 GMC 3/4 ton that can pull 16.5K pounds of 5th wheel.

The true towing capacity is the GCWR minus the actual GW of the truck. So if the truck is at GVWR, which a 3/4 will be over, it will not pull what GM's numbers state. All those numbers are best case numbers for the company, and will normally not work so good for the user. And, the pin weight alone with a Montana will put a 3/4 over it's GVWR....do the numbers.

Test drove a 2020 3500 Dmax Denali SRW today and all I got to say is wow I love that new tranny & the ride...

I have the 2017 3500 Dmax Denali SRW with just over 40k,000 kms on it, like it alot and it tows our Monty well.

The 2020 felt like a race horse compared to the 2017, same engine, same HP, same torque but different chassis & tranny and all I can say is it rides a way better (softer) and throttle response give you a whole new feeling with the new tranny. Some of the tech options (camera's) are awesome, the tailgate is well nice if you are in and out of the box alot but otherwise for me something that wouldn't sway me one way or the other. Really like the side steps on the box, like the changes inside the cab for control placements & inside the box they fixed some tie down issues and gave you more. I think by the feel of the steering they must have did something with the valving in the steering as well as I liked it better. Overall feel of a completely different truck, suggest you take the Ram & the GMC for a drive and compare. Night and day different truck from my 2017... But the pricing is also higher as well. Here in Ontario Canada the Denali with the Ultimate pkg I tried out lists for $98,250, trade in of 2017 giving me $63,000, got them down to $92,000 less the trade in of $63,000 but man that is a lot of money considering the 2017 only has 43,000 kilometers (just over 30,000 miles)...

Pull it? Sure. But, in all likelihood, the payload of the 2500 and GVWR of the truck will be exceeded with an RV 5er loaded out to 16,500 lbs. You may have the perfect setup to avoid that condition but your statement could mislead an unsuspecting reader into believing they can do what you say without knowing it for a fact. 16,500 lbs is under ideal conditions also. RVs are not ideal towing conditions... higher pin weight being the normal for them vs gooseneck trailers for starters.

Always do the math before jumping into a truck that may or may not be set up to do the job at hand.

JMHO.

Not sure the previous statement is accurate in regards to the injections pumps. I think Chevy/gmc are the only ones that got rid of the Bosch cp4 pump. I believe ford is using an upgraded cp4 to achieve 36,000 psi of fuel pressure

i spent 3 hours at the dealer yesterday. Drove the 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins, and drove the Chevy 2020 and GMC Denali 2020, both with the duramax and the 10 speed allison. All were impressive. the GMC/Chevy shifted smooth, felt very nice BUT there was a definate turbo lag in the duramax that was not there in the cummins, which had no lag or very little. it got up and went. Also, the capacity of the RAM will do my Montana...towing (19,000 lbs), payload (3050 lbs), and GCWR (27,000 lbs). Not to mention the RAM has the auto level air ride. The coil springs in the rear of the RAM also made for a smoother ride. While the Denali had the best interior, obviously...the RAM Laramie was damn nice, and close to it. In the end, I choice to stay with the ram, heading to the dealer Tuesday to put the order in.

I also seriously looked at the Rams, during test ride wife says to me how come it vibrates so much?
The Duramax does run much smoother.

Well, not all are the same im guessing. I had no vibrations at all, in any of the trucks I test drove....but overall the RAM was the smoothest ride ......hopefully the one I order is the same as the one I test drove ..

Really watch out for the factory tires on the Rams. I had an issue with both front tires. One almost immediately after we bought the truck. The other took a lot longer but they both came apart on the inside and caused a bad vibration. Its fine after you replace the tires. Although Dodge has always been known for being difficult to keep in alignment. I still went with a Ram because of the Cummins.

Maybe we should get the three big guys to build a truck together with the best parts of each LOL....What they would probably do is use the worst parts though LOL

Just curious, how is the turning radius on the new Rams and Chevys compared to the F450. I am looking to buy in the spring and I have always had Fords but all options are open.

i tested that as well on all 3. I used the same driving route to test drive the vehicles, to try and give me the same control for testing....when i got to the tighter area to turn, the GMC, Chevy, and the Ford all needed a 2 point turn to navigate it. The ram was able to do the turn no problem, it had slightly better turning radius

They still come with the Firestsone Transforce...never had an issue with them other than that they wear fast, like most OEM tires do. I hear ya on the allignment. I have found the same issues over the years...usually with my trucks, it was a combination of the steering wheel being off and the alligmnent. This truck I have now has been off a little since they welded a nut in place to fix one of the recalls....
