Question Fan 15amp fuse blowing

Hello Everyone. This is my first post so please be kind to me. I have a 2010 Montana Mountaineer 326RLQ. Lately, I am having intermittent problems with the 15 amp FAN fuse blowing when on A/C (and maybe on heat but never use the furnace). I am not positive, but also think it may blow when the thermostat is set to OFF and I move the rig. I would like to trace the wiring to look for a short but not sure where the wires run. I replaced my Coleman Mach 3 thermostat a couple of years ago with a Honeywell digital model. I am using the R,W,G,Y wires. Does the red wire run directly from the distribution panel to the thermostat? Do the rest of the wires run from the thermostat to the A/C unit and then the control panel determines what relays to close? I plan to go into my unit tomorrow and attempt the trace the wires again. I also plan to disconnect the White wire from the thermostat to remove the furnace function from the equation. Any suggestions are appreciated

If the new thermostat was intended for a house, then the red wire usually is expected to see 24 volts, and if that's the case, it may be what's causing your problem. Unless you have provided 24 volts, you may have to replace it with a unit intended for an RV.

If the Honeywell is battery operated you should be ok as it just controls a relay that operates the furnace. If no batteries then it's expecting 24v ac. Sounds like a short in the DC wiring. Every rig is unique so it won't be fun tracing it.

Thermostat wires go directly to the ac electronics in the ceiling...usually to the closest unit, then from that ac electronics to the second ac electronics. You might want to use a mobile rv tech to look at this.

Ishler, would the thermostat have worked for the 2 years if it was only getting 12vdc? Would this be an "over time" issue and I slowly burned out something?

Follow-up / problem fix

So, it turns out the fuse wire goes directly to the furnace and then a wire goes from the furnace to the thermostat and also the A/C control board. The wire directly to the furnace was pinched by the water heater that is above the furnace and somehow the back-end support had snapped and fallen about 2 inches and pinched the wire. Now that I know how the wiring is configured, hopefully I can do a better job troubleshooting if this happens again.

Sorry I didn't see your question but it looks like you found the problem.
