How many MOC Members....

Do it? Geocaching that is? I am not very familiar with it, only know a bit of what I have read via the link on the description of this new section. Seems like it may be fun & a great way to get some much needed exercise.

How many of you have planted/placed stuff?

Of the total at the Shasta Rally I'd hazard a guess that about one half do some type of geoing. There actually got to be a spirited competition going on among several of the members! It is great fun. One of these days I'll actually give it a try.

I have around 100 finds so far, my brother that got me started has over 2,000 finds and I met a guy that has over 15,000 finds. Now that guy does it full time. We have a great time geocaching while we travel. Geocaching will take you to places that you typically never see when you are site seeing. We should get together a Geocaching MOC rally somewhere, sometime. I have one cache placed that is trying to get to Montana and back to California.

We have done it occasionally and now that we have more time will try to get more involved. TimandSusan have agreed to help at the Fall Rally.

We have been interested in geocatching for quite a few years but have never done it. Now that we have a GPS, we might just give it a whirl.

Cathy and I have been doing it for about 6 months, 60 finds, about 4 no finds. Love the sport. Just go to www.geocaching.com and get the book "Geocaching for Dummies"! No doubt, best way to see the country and get the much needed exercise.

Bob and I have been doing it for about a month, and have a great deal of fun, frustration, exercise, seen things we never would have seen, and have 11 finds and one lonely "did not find",

Just check out geocaching.com and look around, it's amazing how many hidden caches are right where you are , or live. Pick one close by and go out and see if you can find it. It's really an adult hide and seek game and lots of fun. Once you've found one, the next one will be easier.

Bob & Sharon, I don't know about "the next one being easier". I have had some tough ones lately, but still worth the search. Hopefully as one progresses they will become easier, but you can pick and choose which ones to look for also. We like those with 2-3 terrain and 2-3 difficulty. As we progress we will probaly start looking for the harder ones. Who knows??? A great sport, nonetheless!!!!!!!

Charlie and Nila (8.1al) got us interested in geocaching. We have really enjoyed the exercise as we prefer to go after those that require some hiking or walking to get to. We are pretty new at it, having just 8 finds and one DNF (did not find). That one the owner thinks got muggled (taken by someone not a geocacher) and thus it wasn't there for us to find!

Steve, We feel some of our have been muggled also. We started hunting in "Stealth" mode, especially when muggles are around.

We got started thanks to Tim and Susan. We are hooked and love this sport.

At first we thought several had been muggled, but later found that we just hadn't found the cache.

Yesterday we found a level 5 (high difficulty), it took us 2 seperate tries and about an hour of time. We now have 24 finds, and 6 DNF's.

For Fathers Day, Vanessa and the boys got me a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx to keep me from getting lost on the mountain trails we like to play on. Little did they know, I had been thinking about geocaching for several years, and thanks to them, I now have the perfect tool in the palm of my hand . So far only 3 finds, but I think that's pretty good since I have only made 3 attempts. It's amaxing how many of these caches are hidden around the country, and where they are hidden. One of my finds was just 1/2 mile up the road from my house, on the side of the highway. I've seen cars stop there before, but never could figure out what they were doing, now I know.

I haven't stashed any yet, but I have some pretty good ideas.

Dawn & I have been Geocaching for a year or so......mostly when we are out RVing......137 finds so far.
we really enjoy it. Great way to get out and see area's you otherwise may not get to see.

We have been caching about four years. It's great fun have 415 finds and a few DNF's. WE have placed 8 caches so far.
