Softball size bubble on sidewall!

Had to take my rear tire from the tv to get replaced with only 16k on it. The adjustment amounted to $65 difference and that was too much. The bulge on the inner side wall was bigger than a softball, I took pictures but I'm not sure if I can get them into the post, will try later. This happened while the tv was parked in front of our Montana. The neighbor noticed it or I would have moved the truck and it would have blown since the bulge protruded out farther than the spring.
These are Goodyear tires, Traveler 245/75-16 load range E and should not have done this. Scares me to think this could have happened while hooked to the 5er running down the road at 60 mph! I checked the other three tires and it looks like this was just happening to the one tire, but that was one too many as far as I'm concerned.
These Goodyear tires were purchased at Walmart Tire and I don't blame Walmart for the defect, this is Goodyears fault. They were rotated twice at 6k each time and kept properly inflated.

I heard the story from your neighbors. Good that it was noticed before you decided to drive away on it. I guess it can happen with any brand tire.

Doubt it, it may say Goodyear, but that doesn't mean anything anymore!

We had a bubble in one of our OEM tires about a year ago. From prior experience, I knew that this would not be an isolated incident and problems with the other tires wasn't far behind. We elected to change all tires and went with a Load Range "G". After investigating thoroughly, we went with the Hancook brand. (Size 750R16) Yes, it is Korean, but came highly recommended by the tire dealer. He said that he had seen fewer problems with them than either the BFG or Goodyear. We even noticed the availability of Hancook in Mexico last year.
We also wanted to go the the "G" tire because of weight issues. We run 100 PSI in the tires and don't have the sway that we had because of the stiffer sidewall.
Good luck, but I think that you will have three more before it is over with. By the way, the Hancook tires were about $139.00 each.

Hi Steve.

I work part time at a Canadian Tire store were I live. Yesterday after mounting a brand new tire they found a buldge about 5 inches across. The installer said he almost didn't see it. It's good that he did.Things happen,when I worked in Quality control at Chryslers we were told that 100% inspection is only 85% effective. You just hope that the installer will notice it first.
