The Maine Attraction

Greetings, my wife and I will be camping in Wells Maine in June this year for a week. After that, we would like to go further north to see more of the northern coastal area of Maine. We love places like Ogunquit, Perkins Cove, and Marginal Way. We were wondering if anyone here has been up mid and northern Maine, and has found small villages that are similar to Perkins Cove, scenic and lots of shops to walk through. Also, tips on nice clean campgrounds would really be appreciated as well.
Thanks

We have been to Booth Bay Harbor many time at the Shore Hills campground and like it a lot. We also go to Belfast and stay at Moorings, Camden is also in that area. More North is Bar Harbor, Cg we use there is Smugglers Den. A bit farther North we went to Eastport Maine. Cg right on the Bay of Fundy. All are very nice.

Kevin, was the campground in Eastport, "Seaview"? That is the only campground we see in our TL directory for Eastport.
Thanks

Yes, it was seaview campground, 16 Northwood Rd. We were in site S10A , it was the best site we ever had. It was heaven, the campground owner is great. The restaurant has great food. There is so much to see and do, but you do have to drive. Ask at office they were a big help.

Kathy

ps. I planned that whole trip , so any questions ask away.

We feel that you can't go wrong if you stay near Camden or Bar Harbor. Both are great places to visit and you have a good number of campgrounds to choose from. Near Bar Harbor we stay at Hadleys Point for good value and a nice CG. Public transportation will take you anywhere in Acadia National Park that you want to go for free, right from the campgrounds on the island.

Camden and Bar Harbor areas are great. Plan a week in the Bar harbor area as there is a lot to do.

June can be cold and wet but you may luck out like we did last year at the rally in Boothbay.

We spent a month in Ellsworth, ME, next to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

We liked Ellsworth because it was quieter and less traffic than Bar Harbor but close enough we could go there as desired. Likewise for Acadia National Park. We also enjoyed the free weekly evening entertainment they have in that town.

We stayed at Hospitality Woods RV Park on the edge of Ellsworth.

There are several parks between there and Bar Harbor to choose from.

Since you will be there during the summer, you will likely need to run your A/C system...you might note that many RV parks in Maine do not/do not have 50amp service.
