Preperation instructions[list_to_fix][*]
Cutting the PVC try to make each cut as square or 90 degrees as possible.
a. Cut one of the 10 piece in 24, 24,18,18, 18, 2,1.5, and 9 lengths.
b. Cut the second PVC piece in 11.5, 11.5, 14, 45.5, and 18 lengths.[*]In each of 18 pieces drill four (Ό holes) The first hole is 2 from one end and then three more every 4 after that.[*]Take one of the 24, the 9 and the 14 pieces and draw a center line with a pencil on each. [*]
Assembling the ladder end
a. Taking the 9 piece and measure out from the center line 3 Ό on each side and mark it for the 5/16 hole. Do the same on the 24 and 9 piece. Drill the six holes all the way through both walls of each tube. Try to remain square because the holes need to line up so the three tubes can be bolted together.
b. Insert screws through the 24 long pieces into the 9 piece and install nuts inside the 9 piece. Holding the nut with your pinkie and turning the screws by hand will work. Leave the nuts loose for now.
c. Insert screws through the 14 long pieces into the 9 piece and install nuts inside the 9 piece. Holding the nut with your pinkie and turning the screws by hand will work. Leave the nuts loose for now.
d. Take two end caps and tap them onto the 9 piece with a hammer.
Do not glue them.
e. Now tighten all four screws. Holding or wedging between the tubes will put pressure on the nut keeping it from spinning.
f. Glue end caps on the 14 piece.[*]
Assembling the remaining parts:
a. Lay the Ladder end flat and glue 90 degree elbows on the ends of the 24 piece. Ensure the 90 degree elbows on the ladder end are facing away from the 9 piece.
b. Take the other 24 piece and glue two slip tee connectors to the ends so the assembly looks like a capital I.
c. Take the two 11 pieces and insert them onto the slip/threaded tee but
do not ever glue.
d. Glue a 90 degree elbow on each end of the 11 pieces. You now have three separate assemblies.
e. Take one of the 18 pieces and insert the end with the hole 2 from the end into the 90 degree elbow. Making sure the holes are pointing towards the center so clothes lines can string through. Repeat for the remaining three 18 pieces.
f. Insert the other end of the 18 pieces into the slip tees on the 24 piece.
g. If you are satisfied, glue the 18 pieces in place. Remember the holes point towards the center.
h. Lace the plastic clothes line back and forth through the holes and tie
a knot in both ends. I suggest a figure eight on each end.[*]
Assembling the hanging arm:
a. Take the 45 ½ piece and glue the male adapter to one end
b. Glue the 45 degree elbow to the other end of the 45 1/2 piece.
c. Glue the 2 piece to the 45 degree elbow.
d. Glue the remaining 90 degree elbow to the other end of the 2 piece.
e. Glue the 1 ½ piece to the 90 degree elbow.
f. Glue the end cap to the 1 ½ piece.[*]Apply some Vaseline or lubricate on the threads of the hanging arm before threading onto the rack. Do not tighten. Three turns should be enough.[*]
