Anybody have a LoJack system?
How much do they run, and is there a monthly nut on them?
Seems like a good idea.
Also, does anyone have a jam up alarm, theft prevention system?
Inquiring minds need to know..........

Jim, If you had puchased a good truck (GMC), you would have On Star - it has the same function as LoJack plus many more features.
LOL

Sorry, beg to differ. Had one on my last sedan. Have Lo-Jack 0n my truck. Paid for installation and device, but there is no monthly fee. It is transferable for an inspection fee of about $75.00.

Ozz,
Depending on what model you buy, for the F350, it would be between $700 and $1100 installed. The $1100 amount is for what they call the "Early Warning" model. It seems to be priced differently for different vehicles. When it is installed, they don't even let you know where it is located in the vehicle.

I use The Club. When our truck was broken into in San Diego, I asked the copper who took my report if a Lo-Jack system would work. He said absolutely! Except in the border areas with Mexico - California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I asked why. His response was the Lo-Jack works great - they can see the signals from Tijauna - they just can't go get the vehicles.
Oh, and Ozz? By my signature, you can see I have a GMC...with Onstar.

Well, that means it won't do me any good in South padre, too close to Mexico.
Yea, Onstar, I got it. Bummer.

When buying our F250 Super Duty, we were told the same thing about AZ. Therefore we installed an alarm that goes off: 1. Open a door or touch the vehicle 2. Break a window 3. Open the hood 4. open the tail gate 5. cut any electrical connection. The system has its own power source and even if you cut the wire to the siren, it also has a self contained power source that you have to turn off with a separate key. When the alarm sounds it shuts off the starter, sounds the horn, siren, strobe lights, headlights and tail lights, and takes pictures of everything in the cab of the truck. These pictures are then sent to my key fob and can be transfered to my computer. The range for the transmitter is 1500 ft line of sight. Nice system for $300. We tried to remove a tire and the motion was enought to set off the alarm.

Cool, where can I read about it, and what brand and model number is it? Did you install it?
Thanks, Alan

This is their web site: http://www.scytek.net/. The system is called Visionguard 8000. We added another shock sensor and a glass breakage sensor plus the siren with its own power source. We did not hook up the remote start or turbo timer feature. My son used to install systems like this so he did it for me. What I like is that if any of the sensors go off, it sends an image to my key fob showing which sensor was activated and whether it was a warning or set off the alarm.
I have this next to my bed at night and the key fob is loud enough it will definitely wake you up. The siren is loud enough to cause my neighbors to come out of their homes and see what is going on. Nothing like an audience when stealing a car.

Thanks Alan. Is the Key fob to the right, or left of the Glock on the night stand???
I will look into this, sound like a nice alarm. I had a proximity alarm on a car I had, when the busses drove by it, it always went off...didn't like that much. I hope that they have the bugs worked out of these systems now.

To the left of my Mossberg 12 GA, short barrel with pistol grip. 9 mm Kahr in my fanny pack while traveling. All supported by a concealed permit. The only way to travel in AZ. We have determined that the false alarms, which are warning beeps not actual siren, were caused by the sensitivity setting on the glass breakage sensor. A new setting eliminated that problem.
