Salt River Canyon, Hwy 60, AZ

Last month when we were in Tucson we took a trip to Show Low to check out the area and make arrangements for the summer. We were a bit apprehensive about the route as it appeared to be pretty twisty. We were solo - not towing. This turned out to be a very memorable drive. Salt River Canyon is a mini Grand Canyon. The big difference is you drive down into the canyon, almost to the river. Even though we were not towing, Ed said he would have no trouble bringing the Monty on this road. He drove up and I drove back so he could see the beautiful scenery. The road is wide, with ample shoulders and well marked. At the bottom of the canyon is a nice rest stop and a walking bridge over the river. So if you are in this area sometime, don't miss this spectacular canyon.
Happy trails..............................

Sue, this is the main route we take when traveling to the mountains from our home in the desert. We have towed the Mounty up and down the canyon several times with no issues. Like you said, it is a great road with awesome views. I will have to remember to get some pictures to share the next time we are through there.

We are in Show Low right now. When you say mountains to desert, where are you referring?
Happy trails...................
