SMC,
Arizona and New Mexico charge more for fuel going to the big rigs. Each pump has a sticker explaining what the fuel is for. Most stations have pumps designated for light trucks and RV's as well as pumps for the big guys. The premium in AZ is eight cents for big trucks plus those pumps have the large diameter nozzles. Actually, eight cents is not much of a premium at 2.30 compared to eight cents at 1.10 like in the old days.

Fuel prices are going out of site here in Nevada. Regular gas is now $2.31/gal in Pahrump Nv. Diesel is even higher. I think Congress should better spend their time looking into this energy priceing matter and less on some of the "News making issues about feeding tubes."

Not only is fueling up more these days....has anyone checked the price on crankcase oil lately? I went to Wally-Mart today to buy for an oil change in my wife's car and it is 50 cents a quart more than the last time. Curosity made me walk around the corner to look at oil for diesel engines and guess what?????? Shell Rotella-T was priced at $6.92/gal. up from $6.27 the last time I changed oil in the PSD.
This makes me ask a question I have been meaning to ask in a new thread. I have read on other forums that quite a few people use the above oil for their diesels. What do most of you use?
In our '03 F350 I stuck with the Motorcraft 15w40 for diesels because at that time it was the only oil approved to meet the Ford 100k mile engine warranty. With the '05 F250 Shell Rotella T is on the list so that's what I'm using. It's more readily available.

Well, when we bought our 02'Dodge 3500 at Frahm Dodge in Norco California the gave us a deal that we just couldn't refuse. We got FREE oil changes every 3000 miles for the time that we owned the truck. And since we have decided that this is the last truck we will ever own that sounded pretty good to us. At the time we weren't having any oil problems in the country. Now we feel very fortunate to have gotten that deal. So where deisel has sky rocketed we do get a break on the oil.

Prices found in last couple of days, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan.

Gas $2.25 down to $1.96.

Diesel, $2.28 down to ??? sorry, cannot remember. SIGH

Actually the price went down today, as we drove north into Ohio, course, when we hit Michigan it jumped back up!

Filled up my little tank yesterday at $2.59 per gallon. Only cost me about $40. That is down from the $2.69 it was last week or even earlier this week. Now if we can just get it down to the $1 OR $1.50 range all would be well.

I ain't holding my breath.

Steve, Our mechanics at work always swear by the Shell Rotella for diesel motors. We run it in all the rescue and fire trucks. I was having chevy garage change my oil but am going to start using the Rotella. They claim it dont break down with the heat. Also the Valvoline grease for your bearings,it don't break down

I had to go through nearby Winder, Georgia yesterday; gas and diesel prices were a good 7-8 cents a gallon cheaper than around Athens. The lowest I saw was $2.01 for regular unleaded and $2.08 for diesel. Needless to say, I filled up there. Around our house, diesel is going anywhere fron $2.15 to $2.29 a gallon. IMHO, the difference is worth driving the 12 miles to Winder.

I found a station a mile from our rv park in Gatlinburg, TN, with diesel for 2.199. I saw another in Seveierville at that price. That's the cheapest I can find around here.

Jsmitfl, I've heard a lot of people say they use Rotella T for their diesels so I think I'll stick with it. So far so good. Neither of our diesels has ever dropped below full in the 5000 miles between oil changes on Motorcraft oil. Two changes on Rotella T and it's been the same. So I'm happy.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies Import Middle Eastern oil:

(The following, you want to avoid buying your gas from

Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon / Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18BILLION!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

(These are the companies you need to buy gas from

Citgo.......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair...................0 barrels
BP / Phillips..........0 barrels
Hess........................0 barrels
ARCO.....................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

Good info, thanks. Citgo also seems to be the cheapest around here, at least at the moment.

The problem is the oil companies use gas and diesel from each others refineries. The only way to hurt them is everyone to stop buying from one company, but you also hurt people who transport to the stations and the people who work in the stations.
Just another thought

There is competition in everything. I have to make a decision each time I purchase something who gives me what I want for the best value and service. I encounter it every day in my business, as does Roy.

Since Shell has pretty much taken over our area, now I know why the gas prices are so high here. Informed choice keeps me going to other options for my fuel.
