Hmmm, I still think the technically correct issue or causeis viewing angle. In this case viewabiity is the effect and changes with vertical viewing angle. Most flat panel manufacturers specify horizontal vieing angle which is the usual concern. One hundred seventy degrees is a usual spec. But, few if any manufacturers describe a vertical viewing angle. We have a new Mitsubishi flat screen in our stick house. It is at a hieght which optomises the view from a seated position. If one is standing, thereby changing the vertical viewing angle, the picture is decidedly darkened. The viewability has decreased.
