Tst 507
For those of you who have the TST 507, would you recommend the flow through or non-flow through? Why?

I have the non flow through but if I had to do over I would go with the flow throug. Why, there is no reason that I know of not to have the flow through.

I have flow thru and would recommend them for sure. You will have to add air once in a while so you don't want to have to remove the sensor to add air.

But if the battery goes dead, you have to send the flow thrus back, right? I think for the little effort to remove the sensor to add air, it is worth it to be able to be back on the road immediately if the battery goes dead. Also, i think it was $20 to send them back in - or is my memory way off?

I just replaced the batteries on my 507 flow through sensors. You just remove 2 very small Philips screws and replace the coin battery. I can't remember the number, but something like CR1632. Always check the o-ring when changing the batteries.

Hmmm. Maybe they changed things or I was thinking of a different model. Good info.

Same here. Flow thru and change the batteries myself. I tend to get about two years out of them.

I have the flow through also. I just replaced the batteries. You do have to treat the covers rather gently as the ears that the screws go through are easily cracked or broken. Very happy with the units.

Thanks for your responses. Sounds like the flow throughs are most popular.

Anyone change to metal tire valve stems? How are the original rubber tire valve stems holding up with the flow through? That's my only hesitation. The flow throughs just seem the easier.

I did change over to metal stems as recommended. Some have said that the centrifugal force with the weight of the sensors can cause the stems to crack and leak. Didn't want to take that chance.

I am looking at this decision as well and the only concern I had on flow through is they seem to stick out a fair amount more and I had a concern they could get hit/damaged easier because of their length. Is that a concern or are the pictures just decieving

They do stick out farther than the older version of TST sensors that I used to use, but I haven't experienced any problems with them hitting anything. I've had them on for three or four years now.
