Dish Network on pause

Didn't know this till now that you can place Dish on what they call pause and will stop your full charge and drop it to $5.00 a month! I don't remember seeing this on MOC, hope this can help you save a buck. Dish will let you pause for up to 6 months.

Dennis and Debbie,
We have DirecTV but rather than put things on hold we take our boxes with us and use them in the trailer. You don't take yours with you? Happy Trails, Dennis and Mary Kay

Nope way to many plain when we hit the road. Local TV is all we need for now, but we do miss the DVR as we must watch commercials. Don't really want all the setup, and shade vs sunny sites.

After seeing CountryGuy's setup, we went out and bought a Dish Tailgater and signed up for the RV Pay as you Go. We pay for a month at a time. If we don't want the service next month, we don't pay anything. When we want to restart it, we call or go online and restart it with no additional setup charge, just the monthly programming charge. We can call and give them our new physical address and the beam then includes the correct time and programming for our location. And we can add the local channels for that physical address for $4.67/month additional. The local channels we can add only when we want them and not pay for when we don't.

My understanding is the pay as you go is available not just with the tailgater but you'd have to check the dish website for specifics. I suppose if you have a home system you want to maintain, then Illini Trekker's method might be best. If you do not, then consider the rv pay as you go.
