Satellite Question

We just want to make sure we are doing it right before we attempt anything. We just got our receiver, dish and tripod from DirecTV and have been successful at getting reception here at the stick house. It was ordered for the Monty. We assume that a cable will go from the Dish and into the "satellite" connector on the outside of the RV. Another cable will be connected to the outlet in the cabinet where the TV is. that cable will go into the receiver and then another cable will go from the receiver into the TV. Are we planning this correctly?

Just to make sure that you are connected from the dish to the receiver, run another cable from the dish through a window or slideout to the receiver. If you have a signal and are able to setup the receiver, then re-connect through your Monty to the receiver to verify the Monty cabling.

Keep in mind that with Directv, you need separate receivers and cable runs to each tv if you are planning on watching separate channels at the same time. There is a way around this with some additional devices, assuming you have a multi-lnb dish.

thanks Bingo. We are only going to use the TV in the livingroom. the bedroom will still be on the regular antennae. DirecTV provided everything, dish, tripod, cables and receiver. When we upgrade to a roof mounted than we will look into added the bedroom

Ok...hold on...when sending Sat feed into RV connection;
1. Antenna can not be used nor can you activate the "booster" (make sure switch is off).
2. Living room TV connected to output of Sat receiver will be the ONLY one available for use.
3. The Bedroom TV will not be capable of view Antenna feed nor Sat feed without modification to RV cabling...

Here's my wiring adjustments;

Daggone Noneck, guess I should go back and modify my post from some devices to many, many devices. Sure makes me glad that whatever they changed on the new rigs allows me to watch cable, satellite or antenna just by turning the receiver off and changing the source on the remote.
