When you don't have a filter in
People..
If I were a landlord, I would go by and change the tenant's filter every other month. You would be certain it is done, and you could check on the property. Or pay someone to do it.
Sometimes the tenants take the filter out and leave it out for...well years.
Then someone like me has to come, fix the mess and replace the fan motor.
Yuck...

The real shame about the rental is that there is now a nice young..clean couple living there that have an asthmatic son. The poor little guy has been breathing that crud for 3 or 4 month's now.
I suggested having a duct cleaner come in to the Landlord, but he vetoed that. I gave the tenant a 3-M allergen filter. The Landlord wouldn't pay for it, but that's OK.

Ozz I had a friend buy a new house in 1986. he called me one night in about 1991 or 1992 and asked me why his unit was not blowing air. I told him to ck and see if the filter was stoped up and may have caused it ice up his answer was I don't think my unit has a filter because I have never had to change one where would one be at. Hey I had to go see this. you know what it looked like. The worst I had ever seen!! Some folks just don't know or don't care.

We had a number of rentals and all preventive maintenance was done or scheduled to be done by me. You notice I said "HAD".

Ha! I understand. I bought and rehabbed houses and apartment buildings for 7 years. I had a pretty good business going, I took all of the REO's of a major bank here in K.C. I would find investors, get them lined up with a loan and turn homes. Often I would double close a house, own it for about a minute.
I rehabbed around 40 buildings, personally closed down a few crack houses with a shotgun and my crew. It was hard to get the police to move quick enough to keep me from losing major bucks.
Yep, I have a ton of stories, lucky I got out of the ghetto with my life.
Had rentals... I understand.

OZZ, the blower on our unit was very dirty. If you live full time in your RV, I would encourage you to check the blower when cleaning the filter. I have never ran the unit without the filter, and have tried my best to keep it clean. That includes washing and replacing the filter. That is why I am looking at alternative filter housings. I found there are two model numbers for the Genesis housing, so I am awaiting a response from Dometic as to which model I need.

Sometimes peace of mind is worth the extra cost. I always prefer a pleat when the airflow will allow it, but I don't know if this set-up will allow it. The darn coils freeze much too easily because of the design and very high Delta-T, or temperature drop of these type of units.
