Dave,
Good Idea. In the two days I was under there working in the belly, I couldn't lay completely down nor could I set completely up, so my neck and back really took a beating. I spent most of the time with my arms between the black sheets and the side metal up to my shoulders trying to access everything under there.

Dave, nearest Montana dealer is outside Spartanburg, SC. Go down I-26 to I-85, take 85 north, take 1st exit you come to. Check with Montana and see if they will let you go to Todd's RV and Mmarine in Fletcher, NC. About 4 miles from where you are. They carry Holiday Rambler and Coachman, but Keystone might go for it. There is a Camping World/Holiday Kamper about 20 miles down I-26, before Spartanburg, not sure what they carry. Good luck.

Not sure my problem is exactly the same as others described here, but here goes:

On our 2955RL the galley valve handle is "between the tires". The valve has become increasingly hard to open. I have tried lubrication as far as I can reach, even to opening the "underbelly" just a bit. No effect. On our last trip to Colorado the handle on the end of the rod finally pulled off in my hand. I have been able to keep it on (barely, I'm afraid) but I have to grasp the rod itself and pull very hard to get the galley valve to open.

Is there any way I can get lubricant to the valve itself? (through the sink??) I surely hope to avoid opening up the "belly of the beast". The other two valves operate normally. Naturally, they are the ones that are easy to get to! Under certain conditions I need to operate the galley valve with the slide-out out, as someone above has noted. This "sticky" valve complicates that already difficult procedure.

Any words of wisdom on "unsticking" this valve?

You might try that toilet chemical that has coconut oil in it and advertises that it treats the seals. I wonder what a little cooking oil would do? I'm reading that these valves are in the underbelly, but if you could get to it, someone once reported drilling a small (1/8") hole in the top of the valve, squirting 3-in-1 oil in, and then plugging the hole with something to keep dust and dirt out.

Hi David,
I think your toast... Do you think its binding where it comes through the I beam? If its not there then these valves are "Gate" style and if its sticking the problem is likely in the rubber seals beginning to dry-out (not from being exposed to air but they sort of decompose into a non ply-able state) hence, causing the gate or plate to increase in friction during operation. I suppose trying to dump some form of lubricant in hopes it makes it to the point is an option...just worry putting "oils" into a tank that needs to be kept at minimum for gunk is kinda away from the RV do's.
When I upgraded mine to the 6 ft flex cable I changed the whole thing...(picture I provided is actually prior to pulling original). It was not a quick and it was a bit messy even after having empting the tank. I had to cut the drain line as it prevented pulling the underbelly skin for this section. On reassembly I used a rubber union that has two stainless steel clamps so if I gotta go back in again I don't have to re-cut the 1-1/4" pvc drain line.
Good luck,
Chuck

Thanks Chuck and Van,

No, it is NOT binding at the I-beam. That is where I tried lubrication, but on inspection found that was not the problem. I feel sure it is the valve itself, so before too long I may have to bite the bullet....

It won't hurt to try some of the additives that are designed for the galley tank, so I'll explore that possibility.

Thanks, Brad. I'm just stubborn and curious enough to have tried that myself - before discovering that I never wanted to try that in the first place (My life is full of those experiences...). Thanks. You guys have saved me from hurting myself. And Cheryl thanks you, as it saved her from listening to me whine for three days about how sore I am...

I am also having sticking problems with my galley tank handle on my 2 1/2 month old 3400. In fact, during the Rally, I asked the service dept to look at it, but my list was growing just sitting in their service area, so we scratched that off the list. Shouldn't think that should be a problem that early on with a new model...

I THINK my problem is the frame, but now that David has posted this, I need to double check mine.

Thanks, Dura2002! I am just getting ready to call Masters RV in Spartanburg - I did the dealership search on Keystone's website last night. I am using the dump station at Todd's RV (nice place). I was just there yesterday and asked them about servicing my Montana 5ver on warranty. Their natural reply was, "No, we are not a dealer." So I dropped it.

I might as well call Keystone, though and ask. They are only six miles away (I am at Brookside Camp Rd).

Thanks for the CW location!

I am sending you a PM.
