Sanitation of the Water Tank

I remember some dissusion on how the sanitize the water tank with clorox. what I don't remember is what was the ratio of clorox to water. We haven't used it for some time, since water was available everywhere we camped. But, a samboree in a fairgrounds with limited water, requires that I carry in water. And since it has been a long time, I think I need to sanitize it befor I fill it up. I would appreciate a little help. Its one of those senior moments and I can't remember the ratio. Thanks[s][/s]

This is what we do..........

When water has a bad smell from sitting too long and caused
by things growing there.
Fix this way:

Add a quarter cup of household bleach for every 15 gallons of
water. Pour this water into the tank, or use a new garden
sprayer to flow the mixture into the fresh water fill, if that is
the way you fill your tank. (using bypass valves.) Fill the tank
the rest of the way with fresh water.
Open all the faucets to allow about a quart of water to flow out
(you’ll smell the bleach). Drive the rig around the block a few
times and allow the mixture to stand for eight hours. Drain the
tank. Use baking soda to freshen the tank and take the bleach
odor out. Mix a half cup of baking soda to the freshwater
tank; fill the tank. Open all the faucets to allow water to flow
for a few minutes. Drain the tank and add fresh water. That
should do the trick.

Ken,

On the MOC "all forums" page, go down and select the "Montana Customer Service Page" link. Then select from the chapter headings "Plumbing Systems". You should be able to easily find the info on sanitizing the water systems.
