Yes, hoses are attached to the air chamber on the front, bottom. They go through a slit in the mattress cover and attach to the air chamber. We have a few feet of hose against the wall and mattress. If you leave extra hose be sure not to crimp the hose.

We went the other way, king to queen and simply cut the existing ply to fit the queen. I see no need to use 3/4 unless you prefer. I personally wouldn't want the additional weight.

You'll probably find that the mattress snugs up to the cabinet. Just cut your platform the same length as what you currently have and you should be fine.
