New 3400 Montana

We have just purchased a 2006 3400 Montana, will take delivery in about 10 days. Anyone have any special things we should have checked out before we drive off into the sunset or wherever?

pkolson..we are Pat and Larry Olson from Northwest Iowa, newly retired. We owned a 2001 3480 before this one.

Congrats on the new Monty, Did you purchase it at the Clay county fair? We looked at all the trailers and wife is in love with the 3500 they had there. Will have to wait a year or so.

Thanks for your good wishes; do you have any specific things we need to be aware of before we pick our new unit up? We were in Spokane this summer and camped at Post Falls. Beautiful area!

Congratulations, we love ours also. You will find lots of good info here on the forum. Be sure to check out your stereo, as the Quest unit has been an issue. During the recent tour by the Great Lakes rally attendees, we were told they had upgraded to the Quest 3000. Check for buzzing in the speakers, that the DVD works and the sound fields. Also, you should have the new Dometic thermostat - non remote. That is a good thing. Check to make sure the fantastic vent doesn't stick. They had some bad gaskets and many of us are in the process of replacing. Do a good PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection). If you don't have a form, get one from the forum. There are a number of them out there. Best of luck.

How do I get the PDI form; it sounds like a great idea to check things off. Should we be concerned about the sliders?

We also have a new 2006 3400rl. We purchased in July and couldn't go camping until Labor Day for a long weekend. Needless to say when we bought the 5th wheel and storing it inside a pole barn I never tested the furnace so I wasn't too happy when all the registers but the kitchen had nice hot air blowing through them. Also in the tub there is a diverter for the shower and that wouldn't stay up had to mess around with that to get the shower to work all weekend and I hope you didn't get the remote thermostat, we do and it is off by 8 to 10 degrees for setting the air and the furnace. We just picked up the rig today and everything was fixed but the remote thermostat, said we'd have to call Keystone regarding that fix, so they will be hearing from me tomorrow. My husband told dealer it's too bad they sell these $50k+ rigs and put that piece of junk in it.

Do a search on the remote thermostat and you will find a lot as been said about it. Also in those post there is information about contacting the furnace maker (Dometic) and the fix they offered to many of us.
Happy trails.......................

Thanks so much! I checked out the link; printed it out, and it will give us so much useful information. There is a lot for us to learn, but with help from nice folks like you, it makes it fun. Our previous trailer was pre-owned so this is the first new go-around for us.

Congatulations, Pat and Larry! That's a beautiful model. Very popular here on the forum. I think that's Montana's number one seller. We sure see a lot of them around.

Congratulation and best wishes on your 3400. We too have a 3400 and like the floor plan very much. We have found it to be very accomodating to long time stays and after working out some inital
problems it has proven to be a good unit.
