National Parks sticker.

We have recently heard that if you're a certain age, you can get National Park sticker for $10 and this will allow you lifetime access to any National Park in the U.S. Has anyone out there got one and how else, other than going to a N. Park, can someone get one? We have been told that this sticker is like that of a State Park sticker issued in, for example, Michigan. Only it will allow you lifetime access to visit any National Park. Michigan State Park stickers have to be renewed each year and allow you access to visit any State Park. Does anyone have any info. regarding this?
Thanks,
Gary & Carole

Have not heard of the sticker but I have a card which you can get at 62 years old.
They also have a yearly pass for $50 for people under 62.

have a great time

Gary and Carole, We are not old enough to get the the Golden Age Passport. You must be 62 or older to get it. Yes you do need to show proof of age. Here is an internet address that tells about it, https://buy.nationalparks.org/golden.asp#access. Hope this will work and help you . You can also see other types of passes on this site. Good luck and enjoy which ever one that you choose.

The best part of the Golden Age Passport is only one of you need it. The spouse goes along for free as well even if he/she is not 62.

We also have the Golden Age Passport. ONE of us is old enough for it! We purchased ours at a Corp of Engineers campground for $10.00. It gives you half off campsites at several types of campgrounds. We love the COE campgrounds as they are in a natural setting and well cared for. You can get a reservation online at ReserveAmerica. It's a great bargain.

AND, if you are permanently disabled you don't have to wait until you are 62. You can have a Golden Access Pass at any time and it will last you a lifetime. Obviously you must provide proper ID as well as DR certification.

There are some benefits to being older and the Golden "Geezer" Passport is one of them

The passport is also honored in SOME state campgrounds, you have to ask. We each have one since sometimes you can camp the limit on one then camp the limit on the other one without moving, depends on the host/situation I guess. By the way, if you lose/misplace it you have to buy a new one.

Thanks everyone for the excellent information. What we were told was a little off, with regards to the sticker, but the price and purpose is the same.
To us this is a great deal and being over 62, it is nice to have earned the discount.
Paul, thanks for the website. I printed out the page pertinent to us.
It says on this page that the only way we can get a card is that it must be obtained in person at a Federal area such as a National Park, Historic site, Wildlife Refuge, etc., where an entrance fee is charged. This will work, as we are planning a trip to Yellowstone this summer.
Thanks again everyone.

We got ours at a Corp of Engineers office or campground. We went to Yellowstone several years ago, the card saved us the $20 entry fee. You may want to get it before going to Yellowstone, there was a line of cars at the north entry when we went.

A hearty second to Countryfolk's post. We also got ours at a Corps of Engineers facility near here. I think it would be much better to already have the passport before arriving at Yellowstone if at all possible.

And, yes, Countryfolks, Arkansas does most graciously honor the passport. We have stayed several times at Queen Wilhamena State Park at a very reasonable rate. A very nice place to stay!

The Golden Age passport brings back such memories…my father turned 62 when I was nine years old, and he wasted no time getting a passport. We used to camp at National Forest campgrounds in the early to mid-70s for $1 to $1.50 a night and I clearly recall putting the money in the envelopes and dropping them in the tall, light green payment receptacles in the campgrounds. My how the times have changed.

We're not yet old enough for the $10 pass but we buy the $50 one each year and that's still a bargain. We easily recoup the cost and more. It's good at many, many locations and you get a book showing where it's good.
