hitch swap question

Will a new Reece 16K hitch work in place of a Reece Pro 15K hitch without moving the bed rails?

The rails should have been installed for the truck, which is spec'd by the industry standard placement that puts the pin at or forward of the center of the axle. You should be able to install any hitch, regardless of who makes them, and end up at the same location for your pin.

If you haven't already purchased the Reese, do yourself a favor and also have a look at the B & W Patriot 16K. I replaced my Reese 16K with the B & W and am MUCH happier! B & W will fit right in existing rails too.

What rohrmann said worked for me. Just for conversation ... I went with a Curt Q20 that fits on the same rails ... I like the Curt a lot better than the Reese Pro 15K I had for years.

I replaced my Reese 15K slider head with a 20K slider head. Reese's customer service advised it since the rest of the hitch was the same. Saved me some money and the Reese's folks were great to work with. Give them a call and they'll help you do what's best.

I really like my Curt. Made in America, and very customer service oriented. It's got smooth operation, and moves in all directions for difficult hookup or drop offs!

I'm happy with my Reese R20. Although I am new to pulling 5th wheels, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Guess I don't know what I don't know.

My 16K Reese hitch (I Think?) is fine, except sometimes it is very hard or impossible to pull pin when not perfectly leveled. I've had to put jacks down and move pickup forward or backward to release pin. Other times I can pull pin with my pinkie.

Any comments on a Pullrite hitch. I have a RBW little rocker that I've never been pleased with. Just looked at a Pullrite this past week. The one I was looking at fits the standard 22" spaced rails.
