The way they treated their retires a few years ago, I don't think I'd buy from them if they gave me a 75% discount

I had 1600 shares of GM stock that are now worthless and will not have a GM product in my driveway. Plenty of other good brands out there. Good post for those who prefer GM.

You must be talking about their salary retirees, which I agree was wrong, but then again, the salary employees were offered several times to get a union contract to protect them but repeatedly turned it down.

To each his own. I had owned GM products since my first Oldsmobile in 1969. We had two major issues immediately after warranty on two vehicles in a row during 1990's. Almost stopped buying them then, should have. Then GM took the Government bailout (welfare) and I was done with them. Switched to Ford for both trucks and personal vehicles and have been happy every since. Are Fords actually better than Chevy, probably not, but I feel better owning a Ford.

PS: I predict this topic will reach 12 pages!

Just to make sure facts are kept straight, you might want to read these about Ford.

This topic was not placed for those of you want to bash GM for various reasons. It was placed to let veterans know that GM is honoring them with a discount. If you have a grudge against GM you might want to start your own "I hate GM" topic.

I sure didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings about owning GM products. I probably should have just said "as a VN Veteran I appreciate the information posted but it would be against my better judgment to do business with them".

I looked up my discount on a '14 3500HD diesel truck. They are offering 0% interest. Big deal/not. When I bought my Ram I got 19% off sticker and my CU gave me 1.9%. A better deal in my mind.

Chrysler also has a standing $500.00 cash to any retired vet. Sometimes that doubles. Every little bit helps but like most things, you must ask !

It's too bad all companies don't offer veteran's discounts for their products or services.

Ford has, or at least had, a $500 military/veteran discount. I was quite surprised when I bought a 2007 F350 and the salesman pulled out a lengthy list of discounts. He went down the list asking if we qualified for any of them. Got two, $500 small business owner and $500 Ford loyalty (or some such thing). But there were maybe 10 more that we did not qualify for (including $500 military/veteran. Uncle Sam sent me home 4F).

Be sure to ask what all rebates/discounts are available. That one salesman was the only one who ever offered to show me their list.

See, there are a few good car sales people out there. Just like lawyers, 99% of them give the rest a bad name.
