Good Campground in southern Illinios.

We stayed at Whittington Woods RV Park just north of Benton. It is off I57 exit 77 on IL 37. Two years ago it was a pitiful excuse for an RV park. A charming young couple from Florida bought it and have invested $$ to make it very nice. A great place to stop for the night or a day or two if you are traveling south on I57. They give the Good Sam discount. We were tired and stayed two days.

A shame you didn't try Gun Creek at Rend Lake a couple of miles down the road. Us old folks get full hookups for $12 a night and it's easy on and off I-57. It's an Army Corp. campground.
