my modem is a Conexant d850 56k v.9x DFVc Modem. and 512 MB of ram.

Your upload speeds are capped by your ISP, generally a 10 Megabit Service will have a 1 Megabit cap on the upload. According to your numbers you are receiving 7.5 megabits downloading, and .7 megabits uploading. ISPs do offer increased upload speeds for business accounts, but they are usually much more expensive.
I have a 10/1 Connection, here are my test numbers:
Download Speed: 9851 kbps (1231.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 978 kbps (122.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Don, those speeds are pretty typical for DSL, which is usually a bit slower than cable (from my experience) but still darn good. I've been experiencing quite a bit of internet congestion, lately, which makes things slow down.
And this forum has had periods where it seems to crawl, even timing out sometimes. Other times it flies.

Don, I'll agree with JP. With DirecWay uploads speeds are no where near as fast as downloads. When I was working I would have to wait until I got to work where there were T1 lines to upload large files.
Happy trails.......................

I am stuck with dial up.... all of your speeds sound like heaven to me I am glad to know that the time outs aren't just because I have dial up. Living in the country has advantages and disadvantages. I guess I will stick with my dial up.

You can pay for it.. We had T1 DSl at home 1500 down and 256 Up.. for a goodly number of dollars we could have the same speed both ways.
