Where is the blasted anti-siphon valve - found it

2007 3400RL.

I have a new anti-siphon valve but have not located the old one. I thought it was behind the pantry wall, the pantry next to the refrigerator and back to back with the shower. I removed the access plate but there's only a fist-sized hole, a gap of maybe two inches and another paneled wall.

It's also not under the vanity. Is this thing behind the water connection center? Anyone know where it is?

Help appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve,
I think you are on the right track. Check again in the access hole in the pantry. I seem to remember some discussion a long long time ago that it was there but you had to do a little digging for it. Check below and above the hole and see if it's there.

Phil, I'll give that a go when I finish with the forum. I think I'll remove the plate, then move the pocket door to see if that's the "wall" I'm seeing behind that hole. Now that I think about it I bet it is. The valve would have to then be to the left somewhere. Thanks.

Steve, any chance you can take pictures of this process? I hope I never have to replace ours, but you know what they say about pictures and 'a thousand words'!

Will see what I can do, Tom. I will assume you want to see pictures of the successful location and replacement and not all my failures and/or resulting body damage.

It's there on our 2955. Pretty tight quarters back there, good luck!

Shine a light into the space between the walls below the access panel, and you'll see it.

I found it. Here's the requested pictures.

1. In the 2007 3400RL the anti-siphon valve is behind that panel in the pantry as scattershot said. Well, sort of.

2. The panel is held on by two strips of double-sided tape. I figured I could enlarge the hole without having to move or replace the tape.

3. Note that the hole seems to be blocked just an inch or two into the hole.

4. So, just open the pocket door.

5. You can't see it here but I could feel the valve to the left and below that hole. I could see it with mirror and flashlight. So, I enlarged the hole.

6. Here it is.

7. But, blast it all, it doesn't match the one I was given in either color, size, or attachment method.

So, I have printed a picture of the actual valve, will button things up for tonight, and tomorrow will trip to our rv dealer. He'll probably have to order it.

Steve

Good photos!

IIRC, and that is asking a lot, I thought CountryGuy got our replacement in a plumbing outlet. Not a Lowe's or Home Depot, but some speciality store. It was not an RV store.

If you come back to this thread and I have edited, you know, I remembered wrong and CountryGuy corrected me!

I only mention so you could consider alternative sources for the valve.

Thanks, Carol. I will remember that tomorrow when I go looking. I thought about removing the old one and taking it with me but I'm not sure whether there could be some flow out of the coach side if I left it open. Probably not since I think it is a direct line between the flush hookup in the convenience center and the spray head in the tank, but I didn't want to risk it.

Be careful when you go to the dealer. He had some really nice units when I was there last.

Don, is there more than one? This is right behind the shower so if they use one for the shower this might be it. The only one I know of is for the black tank flush. Now you have me wondering. I'll ask our dealer tomorrow about that. Thanks for the headsup.

Steve, I heard a rumor that the manufacturer of that particular ASV has gone out of business. Hopefully there will be some units available or you're going to be doing some plumbing modifications.

Inquiring minds (or at least my one feable one) want to know why you are needing to replace it?

Steve,
Jay Bird (George) had a leak the Sunday before departure from the Fall Rally. We isolated it to the black flush system and he got a replacement part. We also had to go down below the access panel. I got to open another hole in the pantry wall. LOL.
So yes it is the black flush check valve and it was leaking in Jay Bird's 3400.

Bob, I sure hope I can find one somewhere, either at our dealer or a plumbing supply house. If not, I could always use a m-m elbow as a temporary fix although that's probably not a good long-term solution.

John, I was able to enlarge the hole to get to ours. I suspect they guess where to punch the hole and they don't get very close at the factory.

Phil, ours does not appear to leak. However, whenever we dump we get a very strong odor both outside and inside the rig. Drives Vicki nuts. While at the factory service center I asked them to check the black tank and dump pipes, after explaining the odor situation. They filled the tank full, dumped, and found no leak anywhere. Richfaa was also at the service center and told me he once had the same symptoms and replacing this valve took care of it. We were just about to leave the service center to head back to KC so I asked Darrell if he could get me the valve and I'd replace it. Now I wish I'd asked if they could replace it since it seems I have the wrong one. Hopefully I can find the right one tomorrow.

Steve I guess it was the one for the black tank flush system you were refering to, Sorry.

Dont Keystone sell the check valve, a person would think that they have to use them on the new production line.

As for the vent valve thats a differant story, the rv industry realy goofed when they started to use them to save on ABS pipe and routing the stack through the roof. I never liked them, they have there problems and the one you are having with odor in the RV is one, if and when they malfuntion.

Steve, my check valve is bad also, please post the part number and manufacturer and/or where you got yours, so I can get one. The one in our 3295 is not so easy to get to. No factory panel to remove. I will have to cut a hole in the wall behind the mirror (Living room wall-pocket door-shower sandwich). Who ever thought that would be a great place to mount that part should be required to replace all that fail as punishment. As best as I can tell mine is the clear unit shown in your photos.

Why not just replace the check valve with a piece of pipe in the wall? Then add a brass check valve from Home Depot on the outside? The kind you see in rv parks on the hose bib.

Im sure glad my check valve was under the sink in the bedroom area. no holes to cut for me. I think the only purpose for the check valve is so back contamination wont happen, I think they were put there because of the laws, for the water to back flow and up to the conector on my Monty the tank would have to be full to the brim and be higer than my sink, I believe that by that time I would have waste water comming out of the toilet on the floor of the Monty.
bigmurf, has a good Idea about the back flow device on the water hose where it conects to the trailer.
