Propane extension hose

After using an extension hose from one of my propane tanks to a portable grill, I suddenly cannot get propane through the hose. I know that it is not a problem with the propane tank or the grill, as I have tested them. The problem is with the hose. Any suggestions?

I tried every trick I knew trying to eliminate that problem. I suspect it is the volume of the hose, causing the safety valve in the propane tank to close. I ended up trying four different hoses. First was 12', last was 4' and it works fine if I open the propane tank verrrrrry slooooow.(mine is the hose with the 1 pound tank adapter on the end) Good Luck!

If the hose has been sitting around, with an open end,it could have a spider web inside it. lay it out straight and run a wire thru it and see what happens.

I would tend to think that the problem is actually the need to very slowly open the valve. With the volume of the empty hose it will take a bit of time to fill it to the point that it doesn't kick the safety off on the valve. Another problem I found when I had a SOB was that the quick disconnect on the bottom of the trailer was supplied from the propane regulator on the rig, then it ran to another regulator on the grill. This caused a very low flow of gas through the hose. The flame on my Weber Baby-Q was less than half the height that it was on the small bottle. So I ended up bringing my spare 20 pounder. I had the same problem as yours and took my compressor and blew out the hose, but that night I read a post on here about opening the valve very slowly and have never had a problem since... Dave

Last year I bought a 5ft propane hose from CW and left for the FL Keys. The hose stopped working the third time I used it. I took it back to CW and the sales clerk stated that they had a bad batch of hoses and mine wasn't the first.
They swapped the old for a new hose and I haven't had any more problems.
The hose stayed hooked to the Weber grill and tank so I can rule out spiders in the hose.

A service rep at CW told me the same thing as Hugh. I also have a Weber and haven't had any problems since.
