convenience center
The so called convenience center is not all that convenient to me. I had a hard time getting my water hoses hooked up & unhooked. My hands aren't that big but trying to get them tight enough to not leak then getting them apart was a pain. So I bought some brass couplers that have a shut off on them. I put Teflon tape on them & screwed them on tight & leave them on. Now it is easy to reach in & hook up the water supply & black water flush hose.

I went one step further... mounted a whole house water filter canister to the side wall of the inconvenience center, plumbed it in... hook up outside hose with a brass quick connect........

We had quick disconnects on our connections on the old rig and they worked so well we put them on the new rig also.

Blow back
Has anyone experienced blow back on the black tank flush? When I am disconnecting the flush hose there is significant pressure blow back.

My guess is you are not getting blow back, you are just releiving the water pressure. Unhook the hose from the water sorce first and let it drain out a little before unhooking from the camper.

We put a brass 90 connector then put quick disconnects on to that. This points the hose down. We have done this on all of our 3 Montana's and they work great.

I was just winterizing. Hooked up to outside shower blowing antifreeze into the flush line then unhooking. If I pull the shower connection out I expect that I will get the blast from the other end of the short hose. I would not expect that I am meeting any resistance in the flush line so this is the surprise.

+1 for quick connectors. I've put them on all hoses and inlets and I generally find it easier to put one on the park hose outlet then QC my hose.
I have them on my black tank flush hose and inlet as well.
I also go with the 90 degree brass adapter and a pressure regulator in the convenience center.
Extra bonus? With the QC on the water hose, when you roll it (if you don't have a reel) you can QC the ends to both hold the roll and to prevent unwanted dripping.

I bought some quick connects at a big box store and they leaked. What brand are you using?

Took the backflow preventor out of the rig (too many issues if you don't) and replaced it with an external one on the end of my flush hose. Once I did that, no back pressure at all.

I buy them at Lowes. Website says they're Yardsmith brand.

I'm having the same problem and will try your fix. Also I noticed using the black tank flush, it doesn't do all that great of a job. Maybe with the back flow preventor out of the line it will work better.
I also took the suggestions posted on MOC and use the Flush King valve and by back flushing at the drain, I get more yuck coming out than with the factory back flush system. It would be great if both systems would work together for a better cleaning.

I have always run a little water in thru the backflush before dumping. Then I run it for 5 minutes with the valve closed - I think I timed it one time to estimate a fill rate - and finally dump that out. Then one more partial fill for 2-3 minutes before a final dump. By then the water coming out is usually clear. Takes me about 15 minutes to dump all 3 tanks, but I haven't had any smelly stuff nor the black tank get full of gunk in the bottom.
