Rubber Roof Replacement?

Has anyone ever had to replace their rubber roof on their Montana? While on the road, I found that my rubber roof in the very front of the fifth wheel was rippling about 1-2 inches while moving and I also had a small hole develop (about the size of my little finger) in the roof-which I taped. The roof had several major wrinkles in it and was waving upon movement. The dealership estimates a new rubber roof to be about $6500. Ouch!
Does anyone's RV insurance cover anything like this?

I did in January due to a leaning tree leaving a campground. $4980 insurance paid their share, I paid $500 and just got my new renewal which is $390 a year more as they counted it as an in motion collision. Yea, creeping at 4 mph.

TLightning,
I can't find the warranty on the roof. I swear that I read it somewhere but, now that I need it, I can't find it! I don't know if the "small hole" voids the warranty. Dealership to check it out on Thursday...I bet they will tell me that the warranty doesn't cover it.

I can almost say for sure that they won't cover it. We had some pits on ours after the second year that were almost thru and they told me that birds were picking at it.Can't fiqure out where the birds came from since we don't park it under tree's and the roof was clean, So just call your ins. company for a lot less grief.

Thanks for your responses. My insurance company is being very fair about replacing the roof since it has a hole in it. Other than a depreciation on the roof -up to 70%, they are covering the labor-that's the big thing!, and the deductible. Don't know the final out-of-pocket expense yet but it sure beats $6500.

Re the birds... if you use a citrus-based cleaner, birds will peck at it and squirrels will dig for the citrus they're sure must be under there. That's what the Dicor guy told us at the 2009 rally. Not saying you did this, just pointing it out for others to be aware of.

I would check around on prices. We had it done on 2 different trailer less than $3750.00 each. Insurance cover all except for the deductible. We had a private RV repair shop do ours. The Montana. dealer wanted $7500.00

steve, you are right about the citrus. That is also what Dicor told me. Even after I talked with them and showed them pictures they would'nt help. I always use Dawn on the roof like many do, but a warranty is only as good as it's company wants it to be. They seem to work harder getting out of repairs. But there are still some very good companies out there, which gives us hope.
