Purchasing a 310re tomorrow. Tow vehicle 2017 ram 2500 4x4 diesel. Do I need a pullrite slider hitch? The bed is 6 foot 4 inches.
have been rving for 10 years in an older truck and trailer.

If I was not towing with a long bed, I would have a slider hitch "better safe than sorry" rationale. You see plenty of folks towing without one, but occasionally I will spot a dented cab or broken rear window and figure there was an tight situation that caused an 'oops".

Checkout a Demco slider.Sits lower than a Pullrite,has more travel,no messy lube and you can pull other fifth wheels because you don't need a capture plate.

I speak from first hand experience. With a 2015 310RET I had forgotten to bring the slider back and dented my truck, broke the back window and put a good scratch in my rig...and that was at the Montana Fall Rally.
With a short bed, I would highly recommend a slider hitch.

I have a Pullrite and would not pull a short bed without one. You can pull it without one but if you forget and cut too hard that is where you get in trouble. I like the Pullrite because everything is automatic. The new ones don't use grease anymore just a little WD40 every now and then.

Pullrite here also and have needed it on occasion. We have a Dodge Maxi Cab 4x4.
