A Day of Reflection

There are certain days of the year that are meant for reflection on ones life, Christmas being the biggest for me, then Thanksgiving and then days like today. Crossing over to another year group is always a good thing as it means we have lived another year since last. I have a lot to be thankful and proud of in my life and some things I wish I could have a "Do-Over". Thankfully those are far and few between. Just knowing I have made it to 63 is a great joy to me. Played two hours of pickleball yesterday and realized I am healthier than many my age and I thank God for this. Cathy has been with me since 1969 and woke me with a great big kiss and a Happy Birthday you old F---. Gotta love that woman.....

Happy birthday Phil,
I turned 63 in Feb and Ann has been with me since 69 (April). I did not realize we had so much in common. OH I could not do 3 hours of pickle ball. I have not done any exercise since I retired. I know my bad. Enjoy.

Happy Birthday Phil!!! Too bad you are not in the Myrtle Beach area, or we would treat you to a belated birthday dinner (well actually, Thanksgiving Dinner, but we can call it what we want). I guess to put a twist on my outlook in life, you were blessed with a "Bonus" year and now have another one to be thankful for!!!

Happy Birthday Phil! Excellent thread! I'll have to say one thing however, "I have you beat by one year! I just turned 64 on the 1st!"

Happy Birthday Phil. You must have made some wise choices in taking care of your health over the years. Keep it up and God willing there'll be many many more years of counting new blessings. What will you and Cathy be doing to celebrate?

Happy Birthday Phil, we too have something in common. Both our wives are named Kathy (one with a C and one with a K) and we were both married in April 1969, ours was the 12th. But I am not as old as you as I won't be 63 until next April.

Happy birthday to you, Phil. And congratulations on the good health.
About to hit a milestone also. Will turn 65 next month. Got my medicare card a few weeks ago. Guess that makes me an official old f@rt now! Fortunate to have been blessed with good health. Have never been in a hospital as a patient. Wife has had a few things, but nothing really too serious.
Like you, we have had a very good life. Been married 43 years and dated 5 years before that. And very very few things I would change if given the chance. I often look back at our lives and some of the things we have experienced. I am convinced that things happen for a reason. Just no explaining how some things have come about.
Like you I got a good woman. She gave me a framed poem years ago that still hangs on the wall. A cartoon of Tarzan carrying Jane swinging on a vine. The poem,
When I first met you, it was then I knew
If at all possible I'd capture you.
There you were a teenage dream.
It was at this time I began to scheme.
How could I make you a part of my life.
Please dear God, let him make me his wife.
There is so much for a girl to ponder.
Boys are so silly. Can I trap him I wonder?
So I caught you, I wed you, I took you to bed.
Now we sit here like we are almost dead.
So come on over here and kiss me you silly old f@art.
You'll always be the king of my heart.
So here's wishing the best of luck for y'all in the future and hope you have many many more.

Happy Birthday Phil!!! I just wish you would fill in your 4 letter F words more thoroughly or some of might think worse than you meant. As for me, I can't figure it out because "friend" has 5 letters and "foe" has 3. Hmmm, I wonder what she called you.

I am mostly surprised that I am way closer to your age than I thought and figured you to be a much older "fogey" (hmm, five letters, too.)

Even though when you and Cathy got married in 1969 I was in eighth grade (my worse scholastic year in my academic career), DW and I met and married 6 years later. Wow, I didn't realize how scary that sounds and how young I was until I put it that way. You weren't much older when you tied the knot with your Cathy!

I'm glad we can look at the back-when days with very little regret. Sure there might be some do-overs to think about, but right now, today, I look at them as part of the lesson on how I got to where I am today; with my wife as my love and life partner and I realize I am a very happy man.

I'm glad we're the same, in that way!

Phil, you are truly a lucky man. You have your health, and having met you both, you have Cathy. You are both blessed.

So, Happy Birthday, and may you have many, many more.
