TPMS Question

Looking to add TPMS to my fifth wheel. Question is does anyone also have them on your tow vehicle? Can the pressure be set differently on the tow vehicle axles? Looking to purchase the TST 507RV.

If your TV was built in 08 or after it already has TPM. If not the 507 with 8 or 10 sending units will work just fine.

The pressures can be set individually for each sensor, so the answer to your question is yes. We have the sensors on the rear duals to alert me of inner tire problems if they arise. Can't see them, and have heard horror stories of flat inner tires not being felt and causing substantial damage.

Our truck has them on it already and we use the 507's on the rig. If the truck didn't have them already we would have put them on the truck and just set the pressures differently.

We have 10 sensors, 6 on the TV and 4 on the RV.

Bingo is correct. The Settings for the Steering, Drive and all trailers tires are independent of each other.

You could probably even put a sensor on your spare(s) if you could figure out a way to "wake them up" when you start driving.

We have the Eeztire TPMS, you can use it on up to 22 tires, or as little as two. Its available in both flow though and screw on valve stem type. It's the only TPMS I've owned so I can't compare it against any others but I can say its simple to use, has had no problems and I'm pleased with it. I have the type that screws on to the valve stem. I choose that only because I didn't want to break down the tires and I wanted to be able to easily transfer it to a different camper, when I bought it I knew I would be trading soon for the camper we have now. If you do opt for this type it's recommended to put an anti-seize compound on the valve stem threads so the TPMS sensor threads don't seize to the valve stems. The instructions don't mention this but the distributor's YouTube video does.

You can set each pair of tires for a different pressure (inside duellies, outside duellies, steer axle, etc etc. Whatever combination you wanted. You set min pressure, max pressure and max temperature. I think you could use it on a spare, since this system doesn't require the sensors to wake up. You'd just have to pick an unused tire pair on the rig and remember that its the spare.

Luc, we have the flow through TST 507RV on our truck which is like yours. No problems or issues. We put metal valve stems on the tow vehicle and the RV. Some have had to add a signal booster because they were loosing the signal from the RV to the tow vehicle, but we've not had any problems with that. Having done research before ordering our truck as to wether or not it would come with a TPMS, we found that anything over 10,000 GVW (I think) did not require a TPMS, by law. The person we specked out the truck with was not aware of that, nor were any of the local tire shops. However, we like the sense of security of knowing we may be able to head off a disaster by having the system.

I added the TST 507 RV with the flow thru sensors on all my tires plus the spars on my dually and Monty, 12 sensors total. I love it and it works great. But you must replace your rubber valve stems with metal ones . I replaced all my valve stems with metal bolt on Enkie valve stems. They are not the standard high pressure Brass and Rubber pull thru stems. They are all metal and they are bolt on. I first install the flow thru sensors on my factory rubber valve stems and a couple of months later I got a flat on one of my inside rear tires. The rubber pull thru valve stem failed at the base because of the weight of the sensor. So I took all the sensors off and waited till I needed new tires. That's when I replaced all my valve stems with the enkie bolt on stems.
