New memeber
Greetings,
New to the forum.We have a 2017 High Country 375FL. Just love the 5th Wheel. We have had trailers for a dozen years but this is the first fifth wheel. We are probably one of the few that are not pulling with a diesel truck and I get questions everywhere I have been. I am using a 2003 F250 with the 6.8l v10.

Oh I don't feel bad. From various people I have talked to I actually get better fuel economy than most of the diesels pulling the trailer.

Welcome to the forum. Gasers work great in flat country but really slow down when going up mountains. But hey what's the hurry..you're on vacation.

Actually with my 430 gears it doesn't even do that bad in the mountains. I just came back from glacier national park a couple of weeks ago and it did just fine. My gas engine can rev at higher rpms than most any diesel.

We have the 4.10 gear and have had no problem with the climbs here in Western NC. Gas mileage has been good in the 7.5-8.5 range hauling and 14-15 around town. The only drawback I can see is the lack of engine braking on long downhill runs. We only travel 4-5k miles a year in our north/south migration. If we were going coast to coast it would be a different story.

Welcome to the forum. Had a gas rig that I used to pull my last pull behind. Your truck sounds like it does a great job but when I upgraded to a diesel it was night a day difference. Happy camping.

My truck is stuck on the number 12. Hauling or not / highway or city it seems to like getting 12 mpg with the 4.30 gears. That seems typical for this truck. I had a 3.73 gear before 5th wheel and we had a 29 ft trailer. It was stuck on 14 mpg no matter what then. Hey, at least it is consistent and I know what to expect from it.
