Use rear speakers

While watching TV on our 2010 2955RL the only active speakers are on the TV itself. Of course, Keystone in their infinate wisdom installed a TV with the speakers behind and inside the cabinet. With the AC on, you can hardly hear the TV. Is there a way to direct the sound to the rear speakers of the surround sound? The owner manual is of little help.

If you turn your DVD player on and set it for AUX 1 or 2(depending upon where the TV is connected) you will at least hear it from the speakers above the TV in the cloth area.

I dont think the rear speakers will work, at least mine dont.

My rear speakers only work when I play a DVD. Go figure. I can do what oldelmer1 does but the rear speakers still do not come on. Not exactly "surround sound" is it?

What TV and Stereo/DVD player do you have in your 2010? The Samsung devices provided in the 2011 and 2012 Montana models use a fiber optic connection between the TV and the Stereo/DVD. You select the "Digital In" signal on the Stereo/DVD to get the sound from the TV through the Stereo/DVD. You also have to select the "Matrix" mode of the Stereo/DVD to get surround sound. All this assumes you are supplying a Dolby 5.1 sound signal from your television station.

Hopefully your equipment is similar.

The TV & DVD player are both Samsung. The suggestion by oldelmer didn't work. Guess I'll just have to pull everything out and figure out how to have all the speakers working. I'm beginning to think all of those engineer jokes are not jokes.

The folks installing the stereo were not engineers (railroad or otherwise). The wire tie behind our TV was a wire tie from a bread wrapper. Throw it together and move the rig down the row.

As mentioned, the rear speakers are for a 5.1 surround sound system (5 regular speakers + a subwoofer speaker) and require a 5.1 signal to get the sound from the rear.
A DVD (normally) supplies 5.1 sound. Some TV programs are sent out with 5.1 sound.
BUT. The source of the TV signal must be sent to the surround sound system. And there is the catch. The TV signal must be sent to the surround sound system. I am certainly no expert in this, but I think there are more than one way to do that.
Using a sat box, you can route the sat output thru the sound system to the TV. I know if your sat box has an HDMI output you can route it to the sound system and then to the TV, if the sound system has both HDMI input(s) and HDMI output(s).
I think some TVs have a provision for routing the 5.1 sound from the TV to a likewise provisioned sound system by using an HDMI cable between a specific TV output and a specific input on the sound system.
Can certainly be confusing.

I got an audio cord that plugs into the t v and into the front of the stereo and wa la the rear speakers are working. Do have to set the stereo on aux as mentioned. The plug in places are for head phones.
