I have 2 both Tailgaters one permanently mounted and one portable. They work great. Simple to setup turn one on choose the state you are in, watch TV in about 10 minuets. Even I can do it, it’s gotta be simple. I would recommend a SatFinder for your smart phone especially if you are in the trees.

No system will work through the trees so you must find a clear path. The sat finder apps will really help. A Winegard Pathway X2 gives better coverage than a tailgater as it will receive either east or west satellites (not both at the same time). Both of these systems are with Dish which tends to cater to RVs more than Direct.

We use both a winegard G2+ and a King Tailgator. Both work well with our Dish systems.

Since you are challenged by trees where you want to set up I would use a Dish Network 1000.2 manual dish mounted to a surveyor's tripod by using mount supplied by TV4RV.com. Using this set up you will have the ability to receive anything Dish has to offer and can run massive amounts of coax to place it where you can tune to the "birds". We are full time and do it this way and use a Hopper3 receiver so we can record multiple shows at one time.

Ditto on the Dish network 1000.2. With a satellite app and a signal meter it takes about 10 minutes to set up. I have also used TV4RV.com and have been serviced well. With the 1000.2 you can watch two tv's with channels on different satellites as it has three lnb receivers so it locks in on all three satellites at the same time. I use the western arc lnb (satellites 110, 119, and 129). Only negative is the dish and tripod do take up more room. I ordered a folding arm from TV4RV and minimized the space required. It will need to be weighted down so wind does not blow it over. I use three gallon milk jugs and fill with water to minimize weight when traveling.
I chose the 1000.2 because we would not be stopping for a day or two at a time.
Good luck with what is best for you!

WBF,
How long does it typically take you to get set up with each move?
