AC on 30amp

I have a 2023 3123 and wondering if there is a way to run just a single air conditioner if I am plugged into a 30amp outlet? Thanks for the help

I do this all the time when parked by my garage plugged into a 30 amp outlet. No problems running the one large AC, but never did both on 30 amps.

I also ran A/C on 30 amps. Also tripped the 30 amp breaker a time or two. Run your water heater on propane. And avoid running many higher current appliances. You may have to turn off the A/C momentarily when running the microwave. Over time you will learn what you can do and can’t do. Trip the breaker? No harm. Reset it and remember next time what tripped it.

I am just another voice in the camping world who runs one AC on 30 amp. Put the Water Heater on propane and be careful running the microwave at the same time. You will be fine.

I run one of mine on 20 amps when we're parked in front of the S&B. I can run one AC, the refrigerator and the converter to charge batteries. I have the Easy Starts but haven't installed them yet. Got them at the end of last year, and the rig spent the first 5 1/2 months of 2023 in the shop.

Since it's a 2023 you should also have solar. If you have the solarflex 400i system you can safely shed some load by flipping the breaker off for the converter as the solar panels will keep the battery charged during the day. You can also turn off the breaker marked Inverter and all the load on the inverter circuit will get power from your solar system including the residential fridge. (Inverter circuit are those outlets marked with yellow stickers.)
Taking these steps requires some experimentation and a bit of monitoring of the solar charge. And when the sun goes down, remembering to turn those breakers back on.

I found that since the newer models come with soft start, I can run both on low as long as I don't run any other 120 volt items. I can run the inverted 120 volt circuits like a TV because their obviously separate. If you have a super solar and an inverter for the second AC then you could run off the batteries but I wouldn't run it very long unless you had 400 AH lithium's.

I’ve never had 50 amp service so yes you can get by 30 amp service.

We are hooked up to 30 amp at a campground right now. The entire coach works. We may use one ac. Lucky it's cool here so won't need two ac's.

I agree. With these newer models the A/C units seem to start up a lot easier. I've been running both on 30 amps and so far haven't popped the breaker at the pedestal. I'm also running the 2 way frig and the water heater on 110 as well as some draw also going to a small dehumidifier on my boat and lights in my shed.

If memory serves, most of the newer units 2022 and up have the easy starts or soft starts pre-installed from the factory along with the solar package and generator preps. With soft starts or easy starts, you can definitely get away with running both ACs on 30 amps.

I do the same thing with our 2018. We use it as a guest room in the summer at home and run the b/r ac with no problems. I don't know if it's soft start but it's heat pump and starts very smoothly. We also keep the refrigerator and converter on, all on 20A.

We've been in a few campgrounds that had only 30 amp service and we never had problems running the AC. Power management is essential. The worst that will happen is, the breaker at the shore power box will trip. Solution: Turn something off inside the camper and flip the breaker back on.

Putting the water heater on gas helps manage the power, and turning off the AC when you run the microwave also helps. Run the microwave then turn the AC back on.

If using an electric griddle or an electric skillet, run a separate extension cord into the camper plugged into the 120 v outlet on the shore power box. We cook outside mostly on an electric griddle. I run a separate extension cord from the shore power pole, never plug it into the camper.

Never tripped a shore power breaker after owing 1 pop-up and 3 travel trailers that were all 30 amp. Power management is the solution.

yes no problem keep an eye on what else you have running. And the big part of running an AC is the LRA or locked rotor amps. The Start up(or LRA is about 3 time the running amps. Good news it that it is an easy fix to take away almost all of the LRA. Install A soft start, the Super solar packages have them factory installed. Here is a link for the one that we had in our last rig and it allowed us to go from two parallel inverter generators down to one small inverter gen. it is not how much power that you have more than how you use it. https://www.microair.net/collections...-soft-starters you can pick one up on amazon but it cost less direct
