What to put tires on in Storage
We are placing our 2014 Mountainier on a permanant spot in Quncy, Wa, in April and I'm looking for an answer on tire treatment. We will be snowbirds from East, Wa, to desert somewhere south. My question is, gravel, wood, or orange plastic things that we all own to put my tires on.

According to a retired Goodyear engineer at a Escapee boot camp years ago, the only thing you really have to worry about is concrete and it's ok as long as you put something between the tire and the concrete like a plastic placemat or something similar. According to the engineer, the black spots you see after tires have been on concrete for a period of time is due to a chemical in the concrete leaching the anti-aging chemicals out of the tire.

We use 15We al" square recycled rubber stepping stones that we have bought at Menards but I've seen them at other big name hardware stores also. I use them nearly every time we go out and when we head South for the winter. We also park our Monte on concrete while it is not being used and we put the pads between the tires and the concrete so the concrete will not bleed some of the oil out of the rubber while sitting. Believe me it will, I have several tire prints on the concrete before I starting using them.

As mentioned above, stowing the tires on concrete will leach chemicals out of the tires (black spots)
To cure that problem, I made a trip to Tractor Supply and purchased two 3/4 x 4ft x 8ft rubber stall mats. I pull up so the tires are sitting on the mats. In addition, I cover the tires th reduce the UV rays. It’s worked well for me

Michelin says to put wood, plastic or card board under the tires.

I put mine on 2"x 12" PT planks. It sits on soft ground all winter, although up here the ground isn't soft for long.

What about gravel? Should I be putting anything under my tires?

A piece of 1/2 '' plywood would be sufficient or as been said, cardboard.

There is a product called "Hoss Pads", sold for a premium at CW and other RV stores. I have made my own from a horse stall mat purchased at Tractor Supply for a considerable savings. I use these regularly under the landing gear and stabilizers as well as the tires. Stacked, they work well as leveling blocks and are much stronger than the plastic lego blocks. So basically, I've got my rubber tires parked on rubber.

I recommend keeping your tires rolling down the road. These are 4 season rigs and winter camping is some of the most enjoyable.
