Winterization

2018 MHC 330RL
When I turned the winterization valve on, then turned the pump on, the pump would not draw the antifreeze into the system. Does anyone have any idea why it may not be working. Worked perfectly last winterization season. Did a work around, but would rather have it working appropriately for ease of operation!

Maybe your hose washers are not sealing as well as they did the last time you winterized. I remember discussions about putting a second washer I your connections.

Agree with Bob. Typically air leaking in the hose fitting not sealing well. Some have added a second washer. I, on the other hand, had to sand down my single washer. Mine did not have enough threads on the connection to pull it down tight.
Also I keep my antifreeze jug up at the level of the connection to reduce draw height.

Some have mentioned turning the debris screen around backwards to hold the check valve open. I have two washers in mine and hold the jug higher than the intake. Still sometimes I need to " prime it by moving the hose up and down inside the jug.

Turn the screen washer at the hose connection around in the winterize port so that it holds the check valve open due to the pump not being able to pull enough suction to overcome the valve. Slightest air leak at the connection will prevent flow also. Just remember to turn the screen washer back around after done. I only use 1 washer.
Easy peasy.
