Dish Network Outage?

Anyone else having problems with their Dish Network service? For the past 2 weeks I've had spotty service and missing channels.

Staying in Columbia, MO and have tried both Eastern and Western arcs. Get messages about total signal loss, then a message about local channels being unavailable (message 563). Calls to Dish tech support are fruitless. "Unplug it" Plug it in" "Move your dish" I spent some 15 years in broadcasting i think I can manage the basics of troubleshooting. The tech had no idea what a code 563 even was

Anyway, if no one else is having problems then I guess another trip up on the roof to reposition the antenna is in order. Then maybe trying to run the cable directly through the window. Brand new 2018 Montana so it shouldn't be the internal cable run.

Thanks for any help.

You could possibly get help with this if you would state which Dish Network receiver and dish you are using.
One should never assume that if something is new that it can't have a problem.

Using a Winegard Pathway X2 and Wally receiver. and it was a code 536 (fat finger typo).

On my diagnostics screen it shows I have 36 signal on satellite 61.5 transponder 14 but no signal lock on transponder 9

No problems at all on Dish home account. Have not used the one in the Monte in a while.

Is this new equipment? Or equipment you have used previously? Don't rule out anything. Could be a loose or flaky coax connection. Could be a single tree limb in the exactly the wrong place. Could be the X2 acting up. The messages do seem to indicate a problem locking on to the sats. Have heard that asking for an RV tech when you call gets better troubleshooting help.

Assuming you have had the issue since day one ... we have the Pathway X2 and it is very sensitive to coax runs over 30-40' as also stated in its manual. I didn't have much luck plugging the coax from the X2 into the convenience center coax plug ... reception was come and go. I ended up drilling a hole in the slide out directly behind the TV and installing a weather resistant coax plug on the outside with a 2' pigtail coax on the inside. This bypassed all the spaghetti of coax in the fiver. No more weird signal issues except in a "toad soaking" down pour. Granted no satellite in the bedroom, but a non issue for us.
PS "Brand new 2018 Montana so it shouldn't be the internal cable run." You're assuming a lot in that statement.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I've narrowed it down to the few trees adjacent to the campsite. Apparently when the wind blows just right or the leaves are wet with dew or it's Tuesday there's enough interference to cause a loss of signal.

The satellite system is new (less then 1 year) and I'm still learning it's limitations. Didn't realize that these things were so sensitive to signal loss. Guess that's the price of Dr Who in HD while boondocking.

What you need is a satellite finder for your smartphone. I've had 2 Dishfinder and SatFinder. They are free or cost a couple bucks. They will show you on your smartphone exactly where in the sky the satellites are and if ANYTHING is blocking reception. No guess work.
