That 2017 Super Duty is really a nice truck. That truck is 440 hp with 925ft lbs of Torque. The Lariat, King Ranch and the Platinum come with 7 cameras. Its got camera that helps you hook up your 5th wheel, Also lights that light up the bed to assist to hooking up the 5th wheel. It has a camera in the tailgate to help you hook up a pull trailer. It has a camera that you can put on the back of your trailer and see behind your trailer. Unfortunately the trailer can only be 32 feet or shorter. It has lights in the bed of the truck, that light up the bed. It has spot lights that can light up whats in front of you. Has lights on the bottom of mirrors to light up the sides of the truck. Has a camera up front to show you what in front of you. It comes with a new boxed steel frame. Aluminum body. Go on You Tube and check it out. Not sure what the price is but I am sure it is right up there.

since you are talking about the 2017 ford with the new body of aluminum, it will require a special set up for your 5th wheel hitch if you don't us ford's system. I don't think the kit is even out there yet.

Correct, my dealer told me the same thing two weeks ago.

No reason to use anything other than the factory hitch prep. All the new Superdutys should come with it. Works great.

Is the factory prep universal, for example, could I transfer my two year old Curt 24k? Or do you have to buy a complete hitch package? Could not get a straight answer from the dealer.

What you can't have is the steel touching the aluminum. I think the B&W hitch will work or the last one I saw will work, I think. I have a 2015 F150 so I've been watching this for some time.

I don't know about the adaptability of all brands of hitches. And as I understand, the bed holes for the factory prep are not the same for Ford, Ram, and GM, so not universal in that respect.

But there are adapter frames available that drop into the factory puck holes that then allow the conventional hitch to mount to the adapter rails. I think I remember reading they were available for Curt, but not sure.

I went today and measured the bed height of the new 250 Super Duty. I would have liked to measure the height of a 350 but they didn't have one. I compared 2017 long bed crew cabs. The 2017 was about 4 inches higher than the 2016 truck. The 2017 was 5 feet to the top of tailgate.

Steel and aluminum contact, had not considered that. Does complicate things. And 4 inches makes for a nose high tow setup.

I don't think a painted or powder coated steel hitch on a painted aluminum bed, or more likely a bed with spray in bed liner, would be any problem.

Looking at my Ford catalog under 2017 F-Super Duty, there is a listing for "Aftermarket 5th Wheel Adaptor Kit"

Of course, there is no catalog illustration!!! But the part number is BC3Z-A00A25-D...... Where they came up with that number only God knows.

I had a B & W hitch on my Previous F350. I found the lower section that fits in the puck system on Amazon for $400.00. I am sure it is the same dimensions on my 2015 F350 and the 2017 F250/F350. Now the bed height I am not sure about. I purchased a 2015 Ford Platinum F350 with 20 inch wheels and it was 1 and 1/2 inches taller than my 2006 F350 Lariat with 18 in wheels.

The 20 inch tires and 18 inch tires are only about 3/8 inches different in height. The wheels are 2 inches different but not the tires.

That marketing commercial was a f150 which has thinner aluminum than the 250/350. Just typical ways to make your product seem head and shoulders above another brand. John

GM will be reminded of those ads. Guess what the next generation GMs have....aluminum. All brands will/have moved that way to reduce weight and improve mileage. Don't forget that we ain't talking Coors can aluminum here.

What hitch to buy?

First fiver, so in learning mode. Camping Workd wants to sell me a 16K Reece Titan manual hitch, but I think it's a bad idea. Saw two trucks this winter with damages to truck from fiver they blame on the hitch. Our 2017 F250 Lariat 4x4 is taallll! and I don't want it damaged. I am leaning toward the Demco autoslide. Informed opinions?

I ordered our 2017 Lariat with the Ford prep kit. It is an order only item. Although might come in a "package". Handles fifth wheels and goosenecks. Picked it up Oct 2016 so it was available then. The truck leaves other brands in the dark. 26 times stiffer fully boxed (rear) frame than prior superduty trucks. With the gasser and 4.30 axle, unloaded, set at 60mph on "flattish" roads I get 20+ mpg. With our current Cougar TT it drops to tenish if tromping or on steep hills. Massive, beautiful truck!

While I've only used it maybe a half dozen times in over 45k miles of mostly towing our Monty, I don't think I'd be without 4x4. All you need is one sandy CG and you'll regret not having it.
