Powering 50 amp Montana off 30 amp gen

Husband of the Boss here. Stacey and I do a lot of boondocking. We love the Forest Service campgrounds. Our former small (24') FW had a 30 amp service which worked well with our Honda EU3000is generator. Our new (to us) 2013 Montana 3150RL has 50 amp service and the previous owner transfered the on-board 5500 amp genny to his new rig. We'll have to get by with our Honda for the next year or so while boondocking.
My question is: will the 30 amp output of the Honda, using the appropriate adapter plug, only power 1 leg of the two 110v circuits in the Montana. We will pick the unit up on Sunday and I have not had a chance to see the electrical distribution diagram to know how they split and balance the two input legs.
Just trying to get some idea what I'll be able to power with the generator, or for that matter, line power at places that only offer 30 amp service. The Montana has dual 12v batteries that I intend to change out in the future for 4 deep cycle 6v in series-parallel.

The 50/30 adapter will connect both hot legs in the trailer. So everything will work. But, as before, you will be limited to how much you can operate at a time.

It's all load balancing.

Send a message via Yahoo to NCFischers
You will power both legs with 120 volt 30 amps. 50 amp power has two 120 volt 50 amp legs, a great deal of difference.

Thanks for the answers. I've got a lot to learn about our new FW!

Basically you can run one AC unit and much of your other stuff. Cooking was the issue for us with 30 amps until we went solar. When cooking I would put the water heater and frig on propane while we ran the convection oven and or a fry pan.

Has anyone checked out Generac's new 2000 watt inverter generator. It has more features than the Honda. Don't know about price but it looks good on paper and I guess it's made on this side of the pond.
