Basement Door Thumb Latch

I have taken apart, oiled, and re-installed several of the thumb locks on my outside compartments. But being a 2008 they still don't always work that great. I picked up a single one at CW today. Wow, what a difference! These new ones are suppose to be waterproof and comparing it to my existing ones they do look like a better quality. Just hate to spend $10 each since I need about 12 more.

Small shot of WD-40 while using the straw always works for me.

On my 2004, some of them were beyond help. Corroded to the max. I think when they are new or in good working order is the time to lube them to keep the corrosion out. It's not one of the things you think about when they are turning smooth.

I use the same dry silicon spray I use on other things. That way the dust and dirt don't accumulate on them as much.
