dish network receiver
I am thinking of purchasing a new dish networks receiver, #322. It comes with 2 remotes, so that 2 tv's can be watched at the same time and 2 different channels. Has anyone had any experience with this type of receiver? thanks

Tom,
I have the 625 which is basically a 322 with DVR. I chose it, for these reasons:
1 - Two stations can be viewed independently
2 - RF output for TV2, which means I could plug it into the existing wiring in entertainment cabinet
3 - UHF remote, so that I can operate TV2 (and in my case TV3 in the basement). I did remove the antenna from the back of the receiver, attach it to a short piece of coax and tape it to the front of the cabinet for good reception.
4 - 1 receiver so only had to worry about mounting 1, not 2.

The 322 works great. It is nice to be able to watch two different programs at the same time. I had to run two cables from the dish to the 322 to make it work correctly. It was originally installed in my stick house. Did not tell dish that I was taking it on the road. They only charged me $5 extra as I did not have it connected to a phone line.
Have a great day.

You can use a special "splitter" from Dish. It splits the incoming satellite signal into two feeds while still allowing the DC voltage to reach the LNB. It only comes from Dish and costs about $10.
As for the wifi, I use the KR1 router from booster-antenna.com

I have the 322 that I plan on installing in our 3475. The 322 came with a Dish Separator 123254. Is this the splitter that you used?

That's the word I was looking for - separator. Yes, this is the right part. You can use one incoming satellite feed and then seperate it into two inputs for the receiver.
One caveat, though, is that if you ever put a dish on the roof and want to use the Nomad controller, you CANNOT use the seperator; you have to run two cables.

Bill I dunno if Direct does , but I can just about bet you they do. You know one is not gonna let the other get ahead by much! lol, but it is great and the receiver I got can be purchased from Radio Shack for about $150.00 , and the 2nd remote goes thru walls to!

The first remote is an "optical" remote--meaning the remote must be able to see the front of the receiver. An infra-red signal is used. The second remote is a "RF" remote. It sends a "RF" or radio frequency signal to the receiver. The second remote does not have to be pointed at the reciever. The "RF" signal will go thru the walls. You could probably use it outside as long as you are a reasonable distance from the reciever (like 20-40 feet).

Have you looked at the 522 from dish, one unit and two remotes but it will record up to about 200 hours and you can skip the commercials. You can record one channel while watching another or record on two channels at the same time and watch a pre-recorded show. Love to record the football games and skip all the commercials.
