Sewer Odor Fixed

I've got to pass this along to you. We are not fulltiming yet, and TonTow is closed up and unattended about 6 days a week until we start fulltiming on October 1. The problem, even though I try to keep the black tank flushed, there's an odor.

Recently I purchased this gadget from CW, and this took away the odor completely and instantly. Today, I went back to TonTow and checked, still no odor after 5 days.

This gizmo took less than 5 minutes to install! Well worth the price!

Oh, Robbie, your 'thumbs up' symbol isn't because you've got sewer gas, it's because you don't! I'm sure glad I figured that out! Thanks for the tip!

The link doesn't work for me and you have my interest peaked...

Would this be the item that fits on top of the vent that is supposed to extract odors?

Ozzie, sorry about the tiny URL not working for you. At CW it is called "RV 360 Sanitation Vent", and yes it is the one that goes on top of the vent and extracts odors.

Judy, I went back and edited the topic name and added "fixed".

Oh, you didn't need to do that, Robbie. It put a smile on this old face!

LOL...a very dangerous situation to find yourself in...

I bought a waterpump that unfortunately must've been a return as when we got home and opened it up, the connections showed clearly it had been previously installed. My worst fears were realized as I tried to hook it up anyway. It was dead.
Returning to the store with a $160 credit coming my way, we perused the isles...ended up spending $250 anyway...

I had that item in my cart too...it got pruned at the checkout lane.

Robbie: We have the same thing installed on all three of our waste vents. Eventually you will do the same when you start to get a smell from the grey.

I put the 360 on when they first came out, mine worked out very well. If you read the reviews of the product some people had trouble with the installation, the vent pipe being a different size. I had to sand mine a little but no big deal. I am very satisfied with the product. Jack

This is going on my list. 2 of them to start. Kitchen sink is kicking back some odor if we leave it covered for a while, then take it off. Cheryl has gone to just leaving the covers off so there is no build up. This would be MUCH better. No problem yet with the shower/vanity sink gray tank, but I will get one later for that too.

You shouldn't get any odors from the kitchen or bathroom as they both have traps.

Got one of those RV 360 sanitation vents. Looks like everything will fit Ok but you do have to take the entire OEM vent off so that only the black pipe is sticking out of the roof.It is not a 15 min job and it is sort of warm on that white roof so we will do it after sundown..one of thse days..

Rich,
I didn't take anything off except the vent cap. I did not use the round beauty ring that came with it. You should look at it again when the sun goes down. Mine fit right on the white part of the vent.

There were 3 screws, had to drill the vent pipe with the 360 already in place, then screwed it on....I'm tellin' ya it was 5 minutes, took me longer to get the tools up there than to install it.

If yours doesn't have the screws, you might have gotten an older model, or the screws got lost. I am headed to TonTow in a few minutes, so I'll verify that I'm speakin' da truth... :-) and let you know tomorrow.

I have had this happen in past in a stick house, the trap itself was really grungy, needed taken apart and cleaned well. As c5racer stated, there is a water trap of a couple of inches that keep the odors out, just like in your home. In some commercial spaces, they don't run enough water in the drains, (like in a storage room) then they dry out and stink. Also, If you have a clogged vent, the water will get sucked out of the traps at times as well.

Small warning, some rigs that vent thingy, well, it won't work, cause it hits the TV antenna. Now, that said, there may be different kinds/makes/manufacturers etc. We purchased one at the big flea market in Donna 3 years ago, and when Al went to put it up there found out it would hit the antenna SOMETIMES! He decided to forgo the vent thingy and took it back.
