National Interstate through Explorer Insurance

Hello,

I just wanted to check in with those who have National Interstate insurance on their RV. Our renewal just came up, and the rate went from $426 to $534 - that's just over a 25% increase. I know everything is going up these days, but a 25% increase?

Are others on here noticing large increases like this on their insurance with National Interstate, or any other companies??

Thanks for any input!

Greg

Haven't seen it yet with Blue Sky, but they did switch carriers last year and I'd bet that's the reason.

Thanks Dick. Interesting - I just called Blue Sky, and they came in at $3 more on the quote than my new quote from Explorer with National Interstate. I guess everyone is going up??

And we aren't comparing apples to apples. We have full-timers full replacement coverage and full coverage for all our add-ons. If we lose our rig they will owe us, in essence, a new Big Sky with all the extras plus IS and a replacement for our Solar set up. Our premium is a whole lot more than yours, but hasn't gone up. Apparently folks are moving up the price of lower coverage polices across the board.

Do I have to say what's going to happen with your next bill?

Actually it's a year away, but won't be a surprise.

When we recently traded our 2008 for the 2014 we changed our insurance profile (Progressive). We wanted the new one replaced if it was a total loss plus a little extra on contents. Our old insurance package and new one both were "full timers" but the new one went up about $400.00 a year.

Well, I did some calling around for quotes, and yep, they're in the ballpark sad to report. Basically the new quote was "low" enough to just stay with them.

The one quote I couldn't believe was Good Sam. Apples to apples on coverage, they were a good $300 more than all the other quotes.

We have National General Insurance on the RV and just today I got a report from the State saying that Nat. Gen. requested a report on possible traffic violations. Thank goodness there were none so we'll see if the rates go up when I get the bill in about 30 days.

hello,
I had national for 7 years with my 2008 Everest and just traded it in on a 2014 3625re. I was paying $360.00 a year for the Everest and it went up to $417.00 with the new Montana. I don't think this is a bad price for the new Montana. hope this help.
