I just had to replace the check valve at my City Water inlet.
Problem was that it broke/froze last year and I have been running a plug at that fitting when I ran my water pump.
During the install of replacing the entire water inlet (gravity and City) box, I noticed that the water supply hose running from the water pump over to the City water inlet receptacle (which also houses the check valve that broke ) is pointed downward.
WELL that would answer why water may have collected at the check valve when the trailer was stored therefore allowing the check vave to freeze and break. Unless you blew your lines out, you could open all drains and some of that water in the hose, that I am describing will still remain.
My fix.....
Some of you may know this, maybe everyone but me, but to make sure there is no water left in your waterline at this point when storing your trailer, look inside the City water inlet on the outside of your trailer (remove a filter washer temporarily if present) and push the "button" on the check valve to drain any water left there. It was supprising to see how much water is left at my check valve.
(Is this procedure in the manuel ?)
I know some of you may ask... why don't we move the water supply hose running from the water pump to the City water inlet (check valve) so water does not collect there. My answer is you can not because the city water brass connector (holding the check valve) is pointed downward toward the ground on the outside of the trailer. Inside is pointed upward. Maybe there is a swivel or angle piece that could screw on to the back of the City water inlet that would allow a fix for this problem.
