Crossing Houston

Hi Y'all. Hope you can help here. We will be coming in I-10 and have to drive to 10777 southwest freeway, at I-59 and Sam Houston Tollway. Can anyone tell me what the best way to get there from I-10.
A little nervous.
Thanks to all. Diane and Dennis.

I would continue straight in on I-10 to near city center where there will be an interchange directly to US59 (Southwest Freeway) and stay on the Southwest freeway to your destination.

Seems close to the All Star RV park where we have stayed in the past???

I believe this is by far the best route to reach your destination.

Just noticed a BIG assumption on my part: that you will be coming in from the East (Beaumont). If not, I'll have to revise this post.

thanks David, yes we are coming in to Beaumont on I-10. We are going to PPL Motorhomes to pick up a travel trailer from them. Appreciate the help. Diane

Yes, Diane, that PPL must be right next door to the All Star RV Park where we have stayed.

Good luck through Houston.

Diane-
I won't disagree with the directions above, they are the closest way in. Unless you are coming in on a Sunday, I would exit I-10 at the Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Tollway). The tollway is about 10 miles further to drive and will cost you $9. The traffic will be considerably less than the trip from downtown Houston on 59. We do not travel into or out of downtown on 59 unless absolutely mandatory and we live 50 miles from downtown Houston.

If you choose the Belway 8 route you will need to exit the tollway at W. Bellfort and drive the service road to 59 and turn right on the 59 service road, PPL is just around the corner after you turn back north.

Here is a link that will give directions and let you choose your route.

Lots of luck coming into Houston.

We have a daughter that lives on the southwest side of Houston (Missouri City) and we usually stay in a campground in Richmond. We ALWAYS take the Sam Houston Tollway around Houston. It is worth every penny in the $9 to $12 toll to avoid the Houston mess. I-10 is ALWAYS under construction. The ONLY way we would go directly through Houston is on a Sunday and before 2 or 3 pm. Whatever you do, DO NOT take the 610 Loop on the west side of town. Houston is great for adding lanes on their highways by narrowing the existing lanes and 610 is a prime example of that.

Good luck!!!

I thank all of you for the information. I think it wise to go the Belway 8, Sam Houston Parkway. Friend is picking up a trailer at PPL and driving it to N.C.
Thanks for all your help. This site is great....
