milage

I get about 12.6 average around town, I thought it would be better by now,32,000 on it. Is this low? I think it is.

Depends on your around town... We are semi rural and we really do not have much of a around town.. If we catch a lot of lights when driving around we will do about 12/13mpg. We really do not do much solo driving in this truck..it just turned 312K miles.

12.6 for stop and go traffic is pretty good considering your moving a truck that can weigh 8500 to 10,000 lbs, has a dpf, a regen system, and has to meet all enviormental requirements for 08/09.
Mileage is more meaningful when on longer trips empty or pulling. Those diesels are made to pull and are not made to attain economy like a compact car.

12.6 might be okay for a PSD, but with a bit of a tail wind, I get that hauling the Montana...rarely go below 18 in city driving.

21k on my 6.4L and no matter what speed I drive the truck gets 12/13 in town and highway (empty). I rolled to the Black Hills at 80 mph and the truck averaged 12.2mpg. I made a trip down to St. Louis at 65 mph and the truck averaged 12.9 mpg. Fuel economy is pathetic at best in my F350. It is highly unlikely I will have this truck past July.

Drive a Dodge V-10 with a 4.1 for a while and then the 12-13 MPG will look pretty good to ya! That’s what I had before this one and I’m still happy to just be getting that. I get about 8-9 towing and that is up from 6-8 on the previous mention set up.

Rich, you really shocked me I thought someone was just about to catch up with my truck! I was considering starting a hi-mileage club on here.

I was getting 15MPG, until just this last month. 07 Dodge 6.7 Turbo w/50,000 miles now I am getting 18 and 20 MPG. I haven't pulled since this started. I like it, we are up at 8,400 FT. I don't know if that helps of coarse these are all hwy miles no city for 75 miles.

We just brought in a load on a double dually 30 foot 5th wheel; actual load was 19,800 ( large John Deere), trailer weighs 7,000, and truck weighs 10,000 with auxillary fuel, chains, tools etc. Total weight of 36,800 Lbs; road was up and down but moved along at 60 mph and still averaged 12.2 on a long haul with the Spartan system set with the 210 horsepower tune, no dpf and no regens. Highest the turbo exhaust ran was 1150 and averaged 900 to 950. Love the system!!

I know what you mean. Thats the same tune I use. How much fun can an old guy have with his pickup. The Spartan will make your truck as fun as your first fast car.580+ engine HP is fun. Wonta race?
What type of John Deere were you pulling? A friend just bought a new 7230 Premium, nice tractor. They paint em green and GOLD for a reason.

Rich, what I really like is all the data is in front of me in degrees F. I watched the exhaust temp, engine oil, tranny temp, and coolant temps all the while I was pulling and the highest my tranny temp rose was 206 F; it will follow the engine and coolant temps pretty close. No restrictions on the exhaust system so engine has a chance to eliminate that heat under all conditions. Also I do not drive the truck with my foot into the floor, so that eliminates a lot of the high horsepower problems with powertrains. I love my truck since we made the changes, prior to that I would have got rid of it. My son has installed about 15 spartan systems on the 6.4s and everyone is super happy. This system is designed and built by ex Ford Engineers with many many variables which gave me a comfort level when reviewing tuners.

I've got an O8 F350 PSD as well. I'm curious about these tuner packages. They sound like a real great thing to do, but what happens to my warranty? Still have more than a year to go, and I do not want blow that. Anyone have experience with that?
