Best way to Port Aransas

When going to Port Aransas from Nashville, does anyone have any ideas on the best route to go with a 3400RL Montana behind.
When we left P.A. two years ago we came along the coast to Galveston and took the ferry and over to Port Arthur, and then Lake Charles, that wasn't bad but a little long.
Dennis does not like hauling through Houston, so I was taking him
I-59 to US-79 over to 77 then down to Victoria and then down to
Port A. Any suggestions from you seasoned travellers, thanks, Diane

I like your idea of following US 79 across central East Texas to pick up US 77 near Rockdale.

One small variation would be to turn onto Texas 155 at Linden, TX and follow 155 to Gilmer, where you could either take US 271 through Gladewater to Tyler or stay on 155 all the way to Tyler. (155 and 271 join back just North of Tyler anyway). The loop around West and South is not bad at all and then you pick up 155 again to Palestine where, once again, you pick up US 79.

It's not a whole lot of difference, but 155 is a fine highway, and of course it's the way I go because of where I live. There is a loop around Palestine as well (West and South).

Back to the main point, I think your's is a great idea.

My forum connection is acting up. Sorry about duplication.

This might allow a little more freeway driving. We travel Texas 19 south from I-30 at Sulphur Springs to Athens. Texas 31 from Athens to Corsicana to I-45. You then could exit I-45 at Buffalo on US 79 and finish your route as planned. The road is good except for about a 10 mile section just before Corsicana, not many stop lights.

There is a great place to eat buffet in Fairfield call Sam's Restaurant, lots of parking for trucks and RV's.
