Question: How is the road, and fuel avail Hwy 54
From Tucumcari Nm. to Wichita ?
I usually stay on the big interstates, but this route seems to be the direct route.
(Phoenix to K.C. Mo.)
Thanks!

We have travelle this route several times and like it, will be headed that way in a week. It is quite rural but have not had any issues with fuel.

Honk when we pass! which way are you going?
Thanks, I 'Googled' it, seems to be good reviews. I hate that washboard outside of Ok city. I guess you need to keep the tank above 1/2 full.

We have traveled this road annually and find it to be an excellent road- Lots of divided 4 lane road with lots of 18 wheelers- Fuel available in Tucumcari, Dalhart, and Guymon at truck stops- Are you headed back to K.C.? JMHO- Don

Don't leave Tucumcari without a full tank of gas. After you get to Dalhart towns are a reasonable distance apart: Stratford, Guymond, Liberal, Meade, Greensboro (of tornado fame), Pratt, Kingman and then your in Wichita. Should have diesel in all those farming towns. The only time we had trouble was when we went thru late at night or on Sunday. Just remember when you're standing at the pump don't smell the cowboys!

Thanks for the fuel tip.
ahhh, what if they smell really bad and I can't hep myself... guess I could move upwind..
The RV park is really getting a lot of wide open spaces between rigs. It was always quiet.
We leave here the 11th.

If things go well, we'll move out to the lake on the 10th. Have a safe trip home! For us the road was wet under the trailer all the way, from the tears being shed in the TV.

Just looked at the forecast for the end of next week (too early really to count on). Take a peek before you get out here. At this point they have strong storms and strong south winds for Thursday thru Saturday depending on what part of the state your in.

Ouch!!! Going back to the S&B for a few months? Whats the dessert going to do without the Ozzman out there? Well I guess if you have to, some things come to an end. Thats why we sold the house, then we would never have to go back to the house again. But after 2 yrs of this I will say there have been a few times I thought about my shop I don't have now. That I do miss, but I have found so much other things the idea comes and goes.

Yes, I have thought about my shop, but don't miss the house like I thought I might. It amazes me how we accumulate so much 'stuff' we can do without... I am going to sell sell sell when we get back to reduce some of it.
I have 10x what a person without a business has, that stuff is hard to part with.

Don't count on that 10X stuff you have Ozz. I'm retired and do not have a business and I still have a triple garage and barn here in Omaha, and buildings out at the farm full of STUFF! And I'm putting up a new building out at the farm to park the Monte and other toys in so I'm guessing that will get filled also! I think they just seem to fill up on their own and now I have to figure out what to do to get rid of the STUFF. I think I'll bring in a dumpster from a metal salvage company and fill it up first.
Have a safe trip back up here to the Plains and watch that Weather Channel because Dick has given you some good warning on weather coming up this way for the end of this week!

I guess we all accumulate doen't we?
Maybe a good old auction? I bet some of our junk is valuable to someone.
Yes, I just wrote on fb that we would have to lay up somewhere on the route for a few days.lots of pretty places en route, shouldn't be a problem.

Ozz, I hope you're hunkered down somewhere safe and not in Kansas at the present! Watching the Weather Channel at the present and it is not looking good at all down there and here in Nebraska. They just said there is one funnel on the ground between Wichita and Dodge City! Take you time coming back up here and be safe my brother!
